Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle France.
Elle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I first came up with the idea to start my own tequila brand, I researched the history and tradition of tequila.
Not only have I always loved tequila, I especially love the tradition and the passion that goes into making it. My idea was to change the tequila drinking experience with Cosa Salvaje. Choosing a name was probably the most challenging. I wanted to make sure that I was respecting the Mexican traditions, as well as, bringing to life what tequila meant to me.
My experience with tequila is unlike any other alcohol, it always affected me differently than other liquor and made me feel better. Should I say, it brought out my Wild-Side. The side of me, I love to be… I could not have asked for a better name and lifestyle for my tequila, Cosa Salvaje – “Wild-Thing”.
My Vision with Cosa Salvaje is to bring people together with music, laughter, dancing (my favorite), good friends and a true love for tequila. My goal for people, when they see and touch Cosa Salvaje, is to have it immediately take them to that happy place where they want to be. As though you hear a song that your mind and body touches those memories, which recalls a special life’s moment. A recollection that provokes an instant high!
How we portray Cosa Salvaje is very important to me. Part of my vision with the packaging was presenting our bottle as a piece of art. I wanted the images of the girls to inspire both genders, creating an image that every girl wants to be, and every guy wants to be with. I want the artwork to be beautiful, edgy, sexy and motivate you to pick up the bottle and touch it. Cosa Salvaje is not only a great brand that evokes a lifestyle, which lives inside all of us… “It’s your wild-thing.” Your wild-thing experience will go beyond the tequila. Cosa Salvaje will create a sensation and connection with the brand.
My ambition was to make sure that even non-tequila drinkers would enjoy it. I wanted to create a sipping tequila. My hope for people is to enjoy the passion and appreciate our hard work in producing a tequila that you needn’t mix it with anything. I was driven to harvest & create authentic tequila while emitting a lifestyle, which exceeds all other Ultra-Premium Tequilas.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. I started this journey with no direction. The road was a gravel road then it became a Windy road which took me through the highest mountains. The one thing that I have most loved about this journey is all the accomplishments that I have made along the way. The people that I’ve met that have helped make this happen in Mexico which has now become family, have made this one of my most exciting adventures I have ever been on. The emotions I have to say our scary and challenging.
The struggles are really just diving into a world that you are completely unfamiliar with, trusting your ideas and instincts hoping the end product is what people like and want.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the owner/founder. I really love creating this whole brand I have three different images on the bottles the blonde on the bottle is actually me, my avatar. The bottles are all handmade out of recycled glass everything is made in Mexico (label, leather strap etc).
We are selling throughout San Diego restaurants and liquor stores are re-ordering it everyone really seems to love the tequila. The Tequila is a sipping tequila I’m wanting to “change the face of the tequila drinking experience “with Cosa Salvaje.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, San Diego is perfect for me. Not only did I grow up here but being so close to Mexico with my business has worked out nicely.
Plus, I personally wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
