Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
First of all, I’m thrilled to be featured here and tell you about my business!
I’m a native San Diego gal (La Costa Canyon/SDSU alumni). I started my graphic design business in college and worked with female creative entrepreneurs to build their websites and branding. I’ve been doing it for 14 years, being able to be a mom to my 10-year-old daughter and work with fellow boss babes that appreciate good design as much as I do. #Fontnerd.
Fast forward to February 2020 and I got the idea to start Jill Meet Jack in hopes of putting on social/dating events for singles to meet. …and well, we all know what happened in March of 2020, so hosting events was definitely on the back burner.
…So now, as our Covid cloud moves away, and people are craving real-life connections more than ever…I believe Jill Meet Jack has the makings to be, dare I say…the next big thing. You can quote me on that! 😉
The elevator pitch:
Online dating meets offline events.
The dating apps are full of trash and time wasters. Superficial swiping is exhausting and “hey,” isn’t going to make anyone fall in love.
I created a way for people to have a robust, detailed profile with just enough info to know if they’re your kind of person. And here’s the great part… No swiping. No small talk.
…Oh…and it’s free!
We combine our online dating community of respectful and quality/curated successful young professionals with offline events of all kinds. Happy hours/outdoor activities/day trips/you name it!
Plus, we will be hiring event “hosts” to act as a representative for the brand that will be compensated for their time and energy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest struggle is that it’s just me and I’m Ballin on a budget. I’m really proud of the website I created but getting people to know it exists is the hard part. …And now I’ve been banned from every other dating app so I’m really hoping this takes off so I can find my Jack too! 😉
