Meet Eric Raftery of MUZZii Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Raftery.

Eric, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have worked as a professional musician for over twenty five years. After earning a scholarship and Bachelor of Arts in Music from Northeastern Illinois University in 1998, I began traveling both nationally and internationally, singing and playing piano in a myriad of venues.

During this journey, I began officiating weddings as well. I love the beauty of weddings and important life events and how much live music adds to the moment! Over the years, I have learned the value of listening to clients, capturing their vision for the day and bringing that individual vision to life.

After years of working in the business, I created MUZZii Events, to provide everything a bride or host would need to create an unforgettable wedding or special event. That is why we provide not just officiating and beautiful live music (including grand piano, guitar and even a live band), we also provide lighting, photo booth, LED walls, EMCEE and full DJ services. We have carefully selected MUZZii team members who share our same passion and commitment to excellence! We are truly a one-stop shop that has our clients covered on their special day.

In 2014, I also founded MUZZii, an organization dedicated to building community and mentoring inner-city youth through music. We love bringing the passion and skill of music to young people, equipping them to succeed in life through mentoring, discipline, hard work and the joy of doing something you love!

My wife Lisa and I have been happily married for over twenty years. We have been on many adventures together and love our current focus: leading our MUZZii teams together. It has been great fun to see our older children become part of our MUZZii team, joining our mission to bring luxury events to brides and hosts throughout the greater Southern California area! We are loving life with our four children and very energetic French bulldog (and MUZZii mascot), Earl.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new business always has hiccups and growing pains, but if you understand that they are part of a necessary process, they can be overcome and only make you better!

MUZZii Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
MUZZii Events is a premier event company in Southern California, facilitating the client’s vision for each event with excellence. To fulfill that vision, we are intentional with everything we do, striving to be personal, prepared and professional during every step of the process.

We specialize in providing as much as possible for the bride or host, allowing the peace of mind that comes from having one vendor cover so many of the bases. We offer officiant, pre-recorded music, live music (including grand piano, guitar, band, and strings), lighting, LED walls, photo booth, EMCEE and DJ services.

We are known for our beautiful ceremonies, incredible live music and singing, excellent DJ’s, and continual willingness to go the extra mile. We genuinely love what we do and that translates to our clients.

We are most proud of our team members, not only who they are but what they bring in skill and personality to our events. We have assembled a team in which every member cares, prepares, and delivers excellence consistently.

What sets us apart is not only our commitment to excellence (having all event elements set three days out and arriving on site three hours prior to event start), but also our ability to create whatever the bride or host envisions. Customized ceremony text and elements? Our pleasure! Timeless classics from Sinatra, Van Morrison, or Johnny Cash? Yes! Renditions of today’s best Top 40 hits, such as Charlie Puth, JT, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars? Absolutely! Live guitar? Live band? Classical strings or jazz trio? Yes, yes, and yes! Whatever the vision, we will work to create the atmosphere desired.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
My proudest moment was the first time watching my oldest daughter perform for MUZZii. After investing her heart and countless hours into her craft, she played guitar at a very special wedding and nailed each one of her songs, making the bride and groom ecstatic. It is so rewarding to see both my oldest daughter and son do what I love so much (and enjoy themselves on this journey together).
