Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Shokair.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I first got started with florals in 2009 because a friend had asked me to help her with her wedding. Then a year later, I got married and found the process of trying to find floral designers who had organic aesthetic nearly impossible! So I did the florals for my own wedding (which was so stressful, I don’t recommend that to anyone) and vowed (no pun intended) to help my friends in their wedding floral process.
As I was working full time at my current job, word of mouth spread amongst friends and to their friends of my floral work and before I knew it, I had a hobby that was turning into a steady gig. Once I found out that I was pregnant with our first born, I knew I wanted to be at home raising my son but also knew that I needed to help financially contribute to our family. So I officially branded and launched my company in 2014 and I’ve been booked solid every year since.
Has it been a smooth road?
I feel so blessed to be on this floral journey, but there has definitely been struggles in the beginning. Since I’m self-taught, there were a lot of trial and error moments of figuring things out such as: how long certain flowers may last and how sensitive they would be in a certain amount of heat etc. But I’m definitely so grateful for these struggles because they taught me how to be innovative in the way I problem solve in a limited amount of time.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Wallflower Inspiration Floral Designs is a full-service floral company. I mostly do weddings but am certainly not limited to just weddings. I love styling photo shoots for commercial products or private parties. I am most known for my organic romantic floral style while still keeping things classic and elegant. I feel that what sets my floral designs apart is attention to detail in color palette and style. I always have clients who say that their favorite part of planning their wedding florals was our design meetings.
I know that a huge part of this is because I walk them through the whole floral process so they don’t feel blindsided by cost or when certain flowers suddenly become unavailable due to unexpected weather change. My goal is always to make my clients feel like they are working with a friend who will make them feel so comfortable but also a professional who will ease their anxious and excited emotions
