We are thrilled to be connecting with Fabrizio Scippa again. Fabrizio is a Website and Identity Designer and is also a content partner. Content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work that we do, sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this. Check out our conversation with Fabrizio below.

Hi Fabrizio, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I’ve been using my creativity and branding expertise hand-in-hand with digital design for 24 years. I’ve served as Creative Director at various organizations before forming Fabrizio Scippa Grafica in 2011 to better serve my clients directly and more efficiently. My design approach is always based on a strong foundation of reason; I’m a strong believer that every design decision begins with a why. Born and raised in Rome, I was influenced by the clean and minimalistic approach of modern Italian design. I’ve been described as the ideal combination between Italian sophistication and American efficiency.

Who are your typical clients and why do they typically choose to work with you?
The majority of my clients are creatives (strategists, designers, photographers, architects) and consultants (psychologist, coaches) who want to freshen up their brand. Going through my branding process gives these service-based businesses the confidence and credibility they need to keep growing and engage new clients. Over the years I have streamlined my intake process and potential clients can quickly see I am more than a visual designer. We start with a conversation about their goals and challenges which allows me to provide a clear road map for growth. My portfolio and case studies demonstrate my expertise working with other creatives and consultants, which gives my clients a sense of trust from the beginning.

Why do you use Squarespace to create websites for your clients?
The Squarespace platform has a great interface which is constantly tested and perfected. This means it’s easy for my clients to maintain and update their own site after a short training which is something I always provide. The fact that Squarespace is self-contained also means it works seamlessly and gets automatically updated, without worrying having to update individual plug-ins and third-party softwares. Squarespace also provides a 24-hour customer support team, SEO capabilities and they are very scalable if needed. Although Squarespace is marketed as a “do-it-yourself” website platform, it can be overwhelming, time consuming and you can still end up with amateur results. Hiring a professional designer to create your Squarespace website guarantees professional results and makes your investment much more valuable.

What is your process and why it is valuable to your ideal clients?
For new clients, I start with a 1-2 hour in-depth discussion where we outline aspirations, challenges and possible solutions. At the end of this discovery phase which I call “The Soluzione” (the solution) I deliver a written branding outline and site map. The initial investment is then applied to one of my three packages for branding, website design or both. Having been in this industry for over 20 years, I have a pretty streamlined project management process as well. I keep my clients involved and informed from the beginning, resulting in strong working relationships and a large base or repeat clients.

Can you share some of the latest most successful projects?
Projects 2 Print: I recently completed a branding and website project for a local print shop, Having recently secured a second brick and mortar location, they decided it was time to expand their business offerings and maximize their equipment and expertise. P2P’s vision was for a modern shop that can make any personal or business print project a reality. Besides creating a new visual identity, our work included re-naming the new shop and creating messaging assets to convey the “limitless printing possibilities” vision. The brand and shop are bright, relaxed and inviting which makes for a great experience when working on custom projects.

Our Radicondoli: This was a special website commission by my friend and designer Ron Miriello. Radicondoli is a small village in Tuscany that Ron fell in love with years ago. Off the beaten path, it is not a top tourist destination. What makes Radicondoli extraordinary is its ordinary people that are so willing to welcome you like family. Being from Rome, I am well aware of how small villages like Radicondoli can be overlooked not just by tourists but by their own fellow countrymen as well.

Allard Jansen Architecture: It’s always a great pleasure to work with other creatives, regardless of their discipline. Working with architect Allard Jansen was no exception. To organize and display his residential and commercial projects in a simple and effective way, we collaborated on a portfolio site and brand identity. It was a fun and successful project, especially because we both believe in minimalistic design. The end result was an experience that was focused on showcasing the work with large, impactful imagery and minimal graphic distractions.

Don Bartletti Photography: I was extremely honored to work with Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Don Bartletti, creating an online portfolio for his collection of photographs. The photographs span over the last 40+ years and focus on immigration and the US/Mexico border. Bartletti carefully crafted captions for his photos, giving each image a powerful story. I urge you to look at the site, see some of the images and read some of the stories for a truly thought-provoking experience.

Dr. Pedro Olvera Pedro: an independent educational psychologist, needed a new website that looked professional and outlined his various services, so that school administrators could easily become familiar with these capabilities. In addition, he wanted his website to be in English and Spanish to better serve his bilingual client base. We created a dual language website that is responsive and features a calming color palette. We used a photography collection with various shapes that symbolize students’ unique challenges and growth. Dr. Olvera’s website stands-out among his competitors and inspires confidence.
