Meet Francine Sablan and Jason Tweed of Body University in Mission Valley and Grantville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francine Sablan and Jason Tweed.

Francine’s passion for transforming the body by utilizing the power of exercise and nutrition becomes obvious by spending just a few minutes with her. She leads by example “walking the walk”, inspiring her clients and those around her with her own personal drive and discipline. 100% focused on results, she is committed to seeing each one of her clients achieve their own personal goals. Her own personal fitness journey has taken her to the highest level of female physique competition.

With her extensive field experience, her own athletic intuition, and her relentless drive to expand her foundation as an expert in the fitness world, she is fast becoming one of the most sought-after trainers in the region.

Health and fitness is my passion, and my goal is to help others find the same enthusiasm and to experience the satisfaction that comes with hard work and determination.

Jason’s passion stems from the role of nutrition and how manipulating the types of food in one’s diet can transform the physique. Through his extensive field experience as physique competitor, he has learned the value of the “calorie”. His philosophy and ideas on nutrition is unique and more importantly, “livable”.

In today’s society and its need for immediate results, it’s no wonder that people will go through extremes to attain the dream physique. The goal is to find a way to utilize the body’s natural processes with food, using food that is appealing to one’s specific taste and needs.

Together they established Body University as a resource for those who desire to better themselves both physically and mentally.

Health and fitness is a lifelong process. They are constantly changing and evolving. It is their hope that Body University will not only aid in attaining your goals, but will educate you along the way with lessons to last a lifetime. They have invested in their clients; their passion and care is obvious in how they interact with their clients. Students of Body University are not only achieving their goals, but also have a healthy outlook on themselves and their self-worth.

Body University is a place where friendships are made, where bodies are challenged, where minds are educated, where individuality is cherished, where unity is formed, and where one’s true potential is discovered.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our journey has not been easy, but the lessons we are learning along the way are priceless! It’s one thing to service clients; but opening and operating a business brought on a whole new set of challenges.

Searching for the business location, remodeling the space, purchasing equipment, creating operating procedures, managing staff, etc. are just a few things we had to learned to do. And as soon as we get into a nice rhythm, the universe has a way to keep us growing. Only 6 months after opening our brand-new facility, we walked into the gym to find it flooded and covered in water! I have to say that was one of the most devastating events so far. Regardless of the struggles we faced and are no doubt going to face, we tackle every challenge head-on knowing that it’ll only make us better.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Body University story. Tell us more about the business.
Body University provides personal training and nutrition services for every level and goal. We focus on aesthetic-based results. The training and nutrition services offered here work towards complimenting your physique by working towards developing shape and symmetry. Body University educates clients on how to properly strength train and nourish their bodies for their physical goals.

Clients love the lower body sessions and we’ve made quite a reputation for transforming the glutes. The nutrition programs are known to be balanced and more importantly livable. I think our Mission Statement says it best.

The Mission of Body University shall be:

1.To impart an appreciation and broad understanding of health and fitness.

2.To contribute to knowledge and foster the development of self-awareness.

3.To encourage self-exploration and support the discovery of each individual’s uniqueness and strengths.

4.To encourage sportsmanship and unity.

5.To value the differences and commonalities and promote respect in personal interactions.

6.To encourage the intellectual and physical development of oneself.

We at Body University are committed to providing a balanced, high quality education in order to advance the health and well-being of our community.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure that we believe in luck. We do however, believe in the power of passion and grit! It took a lot of courage to take the leap of faith to pursue our dreams. It meant being resilient to the many “no’s” in life and having the tenacity to keep going.
