Hi Frank, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I operate Tainos Pop-up Restaurant and Private Chef/Catering. I was born and raised in the Bronx to two amazing Puerto Rican parents who taught me family and cooking was everything. I spent much of my teenage life in NYC until I joined the Navy in 1994. The journey took me to many places where I had the privilege of exercising my palette on many different types of food from all over. B line it to today I am retired from the military and enjoying life. I have always been the cook in the family and what I find important is not only providing a dish that taste amazing but providing a visual display to please the eye as well. I came up with the idea of Tainos mostly in part because of the pandemic. I figure why not bring Fine Dining Puerto Rican Cuisine to people kitchen. So I’ve done a number of private events and now I’m adding a monthly pop-up event that comprises of a four course event with wine and amazing latin music.

Tell us about Tainos Pop-up Restaurant?
Tainos is a Pop-up Restaurant with the added service of providing a Private Chef experience at your very own home. For now we are conducting our pop-up events at various locations throughout San Diego County. Our events are private so reservations are required and you can book a reservation through our website. Due to COVID guidelines each event is limited to ten reservations at a time. Our events are a four course event where you get to choose your appetizer and entree and choice of red/white wine. Each course is described by the chef and we welcome all to visit the kitchen and ask questions. We also offer Private Chef events such as dinner parties, anniversary, etc and we also cater BBQ Events.

What does Tainos offer as far as service?
Private Pop-up event with four course meal, wine and amazing latin music. Private Chef event such as dinners, anniversaries, romantic evenings. BBQ Catering

How did you come up with the concept?
I have always loved cooking and with the pandemic and restaurants being closed or limited I figured why not bring the fine dining experience to the people. The name Tainos comes from the first indigenous tribes to inhabit Puerto Rico prior to Christopher Columbus. They were native and when ships landed on Puerto Rico prior to arriving on the US the native Tainos would share their culture and them some to the Europeans and Africans. Thats why Puerto Ricans are so diverse. We are part Taino, African, and European. So I wanted to pay amish to the original people of Puerto Rico the Tainos.

Are you wanting to expand one day into a full out restaurant?
A part of me does, but at the same time I understand the work and commitment that goes to only a restaurant. It can be time consuming. I guess it would depend of who I am partnering with, investors, location is important. And I need to have full control over the kitchen and theme of the restaurant. So we’ll see.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
