Meet Ginger Carter of Nutrition with Ginger in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ginger Carter.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ginger. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am in the hospital and have been diagnosed with another Auto-Immune Disorder/Disease. The Docs diagnosed me with Leukemia, but then changed it to “other A.I”. A nurse looks at my chart, noticed that I am a Nutritionist and quietly asks me if I have heard about a nutritional product called Juice Plus. Long story short, it was that product that brought back my help, got me off of 5 meds and no more surgeries or procedures and back to my passion of teaching. This was 15 years ago!

In the last 14 years I have specialized in A.I. concerns: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, most skin disorders, Lupus, most GI disorders, Autism and cancer to name a few.

I now travel nationally and some outside the states educating people on “lifestyle” choices: exercise, hydration, de-stress, sleep and of course good solid plant nutrition.

It is SO gratifying to get that call that a child is now off their meds, someone’s tumor was reduced in size, their weight is now a “healthy” weight, gotten off of meds and so much more.

Speaking is my passion and I have been spoken many times for the American Heart, American Cancer, American Diabetes Associations, many Pediatric Associations, Fire Fighter Groups and of course numerous Auto-Immune Associations. It is such an honor to benefit someone’s world with these tips. I will never retire! I am having too much fun!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth…NO, Gratifying…YES!

People have to understand that our Doctors are trained with a ‘pharmaceutical” background. I have a “nutraceutical” background. Docs get no Nutrition Classes in med school. Which is super sad! They have “re-active” practices and I have a “pro-active” practice. Docs do not understand the importance of whole food nutrition and how it can heal the body.

Of course, BIG Pharma is everywhere and they do not like more “holistic” practitioners, but this does not stop me. I love educating the public and of course ALL healthcare practitioners. I have seen a huge change in what the public wants and buys in the last 10 years. They are learning and I am proud to be a little part of that!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Somehow I think I have probably already answered most of this.

I have a Nutrition degree from the University of Kentucky and I specialize in Auto-Immune disorders and working with children is my passion.

I have been in practice for 30 years, but everything changed for me when I was in the hospital 15 years ago. I use to recommend vitamins and now I know better.

What sets me apart? My passion! Example would be that I have set up many 15 minute, pay “all cash” appoints with Docs to educate them on the importance of whole food nutrition. they are usually a little irritated when I get in there, BUT I am almost always asked to stay longer or come do a class for their patients and I have NEVER paid for an appointment. Love it!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
San Diego is filled with very smart people who tend to be health conscious. It is a perfect area for health practitioners. Just get yourself out there. If you have a good message and you are coming from your heart, you will do well.
