Meet Giselle Lopez of Wireless fantasies in San Ysidro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Lopez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Giselle. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in San Diego. My family is from Tijuana, and I spend a lot of my childhood down there, crossing daily in order to see my grandparents and cousins. I am the fourth kid out of five which I think is the main reason as to why I’ve always wanted to stand out. As a kid, I loved music and fashion. Especially in the novelas, I would watch. They inspired me to not dress like your average person, but like a character every day.

That’s what has inspired me to start a fashion line where people feel themselves, feel comfortable, and most importantly, confident. I lived in Minneapolis for a year, and I met so many inspiring people that made me think “if they can start a brand, I can too.” The world all around me inspires me, but my biggest inspiration are my people and my border town. We have such bad reputation down here that I want to show people that creative artists live here, and we are not afraid of our lives.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been the smoothest, but I do recognize a lot of my resources that I’ve had that others may not. I think my main struggle is finding a space to create. Since I moved back, I’ve been staying with my parents and their home is my safe space, but there isn’t enough room for me to create and be doing the things I envision in my mind. Living in California is expensive, and I think that’s the biggest struggle for every artist living here, but we make it work, and that’s what I plan on doing.!

Please tell us about Wireless fantasies.
My brand is called “wireless fantasies,” and I chose the name after hearing a beautiful song called “wireless fantasy” by Vladimir Ussachevsky. Ever since the rise of technology and social media, I have become obsessed with technology and the future.

I build what you can call a “mood board” on Instagram (@wirelessfantasies) in order to capture the eyes of those who see the same vision as me. My goal for my brand is to come out with a magazine soon, and a clothing line. It’s all in the works right now, and I can’t wait to let it out into the world.

I think what sets me apart from others is the love I have for technology taking over rather than fear it like most. I want to combine my love for futuristic technology with fashion and turn into a piece that will make people feel like they’re actually living in the future because doesn’t 2019 have a futuristic ring to it? Why not start thinking and dressing as such.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I think my favorite memory from childhood was going on soccer tournaments and playing far from home. My family would go with me, and their support didn’t seem like anything until I grew older.

I never realized how lucky I was to have parents that supported a girl at that, who loved a sport that was mainly taught to boys. I really do think my first love was soccer, and I will always cherish those days of my life.
