Meet Catherine Dietz of A Healthy Path to Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Dietz.

Catherine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The journey has been an interesting one, and I’ve had a number of different careers that have led me to where I am now. I started my first career as a legal secretary at the age of 18. In my early 30’s, I became fascinated by ‘Discovery’ and ‘The Science Channel’ and felt inspired to learn more about the human mind, body and Spirit. While still working full-time as a legal secretary, I started taking classes at Mira Costa College to prepare myself for the Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) Program at Grossmont College (in San Diego).

After being in the legal profession for 19 years, I left that career, completed the CVT Program and began the next career in my journey as a CVT in the cath lab at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. I grew so much in that experience and found great satisfaction in knowing that I was following my heart.

As I began realizing that the stress I felt in that environment was not something I cared to endure long-term, I found myself being drawn to using my knowledge and skills to help people improve their quality of life from a more holistic and natural approach to health. And while I was at Scripps, I was introduced to ‘Healing Touch’ classes and felt an immediate connection to helping people thrive through energy healing (reducing stress, optimizing the body’s natural ability to heal itself, and feeling nurtured).

At the age of 42, I left the corporate world of helping people heal their hearts from ‘the outside’ to creating my own practice of helping people heal their hearts from ‘the inside’, and I started working with my first clients as a Healing Touch Practitioner. I had no idea how to build a successful business, but I trusted my ability and continued to feel great satisfaction in knowing that I was following my heart. I was then led to the opportunity to become a Heal Your Life® Coach (based on the philosophy of Louise Hay).

Experiencing, learning and offering these powerful technique-based approaches to fully embracing one’s life (both the energy therapy and the coaching) has been transformational in my life and in the lives of the many clients I’ve had the honor of working with. I was born to do this and continue to feel that internal spark from staying true to my heart!

At the same time I was going through coach training and continuing to build my business, I was also experiencing some big challenges in my (then) romantic relationship of 7 years. While there was still a lot of love between us, as I continued to grow in my own individual journey, my interests and priorities were changing, which ultimately caused us to grow apart as a couple.

We had many conversations, went to counseling, and did our best to reconnect in a way that felt good for both of us. But despite our best efforts, we couldn’t come to an agreement about what ‘partnership’ means in this type of relationship, and I knew deep down that staying in that relationship wouldn’t feel fulfilling to me unless we were equal partners, and willing to grow and evolve together as a couple.

As painful as that chapter was, it was out of that experience that ‘A Healthy Path to Love’ was born. And through my own experience of successfully navigating the wide range of emotions that comes when facing the decision of whether to stay or go in a relationship, I was inspired to create ‘The HEALTHY Path Process’, a step-by-step program to guide and support women in making a clear decision about whether or not they’re with the ‘right’ partner and to stay or go with self-awareness, integrity, grace and compassion.

I LOVE showing women how to tap into the wisdom of their heart and gain the clarity, confidence and courage needed to speak their truth and ask for what they need in their relationships. And I LOVE teaching women how to empower themselves – through taking ownership of the quality of their lives and relationships – and either reconnect with their partner in a way that *feels* good for both of them or gracefully let go of a relationship that no longer serves its purpose.

I believe that relationship conflict is one of our greatest teachers and gives us ample opportunity to ‘show up’ for ourselves and be the women we truly want to be. To stay committed to love, for ourselves and our partners, even when we decide to go.

As best-selling author Marianne Williamson said, “Sometimes the lesson to be learned in a relationship is how to hang in there and try to work things out. Other times, the lesson to be learned is how to exit a situation that doesn’t serve. No one can determine for another person what principle applies in what circumstance.” In my role as a Healthy Relationship Coach, I’m not here to tell women whether to stay or go – I’m here to guide and support them through the emotional turbulence and confusion and back to rediscovering their power and potential as an amazing woman in this adventure we call life.

I feel blessed to have found my ‘purpose’ in this profession, thrilled with how far I’ve come, and delighted about where I’m going. I love being an entrepreneur and creating my own path in life…aka A Healthy Path to Love. And I believe each and every one of us has the ability to follow our heart and create our own healthy path to love… in our businesses, in our relationships with ourselves and others, and in our quality of life!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road, but I’ve managed to navigate through the obstacles! The biggest struggles have been:

  • learning how to be my own boss AND a good “employee”.
  • learning how to create systems for all the components that a thriving business needs.
  • learning about ROI and failing at many attempts in the process.
  • learning how to let go of unhealthy habits and relationships that don’t support growth.
  • learning how to feel confident about “selling” my services.
  • learning how to stay committed to the path even when feeling temporary periods of discouragement.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the A Healthy Path to Love story. Tell us more about the business.
I covered a lot of this in the previous section, and here it is in a nutshell: I’m a Licensed Heal Your Life® Coach and I specialize in coaching women who feel confused, unsure and uncertain about their romantic relationship and are facing the decision of whether to stay or go.

I’m known for being a woman’s guide to know ‘should I stay or should I go?’

As a business owner, I am most proud of my desire and ability to stay true to my heart and be a strong leader and example for my clients to do the same. I also feel proud of the fact that most people find it incredibly easy to open up to me about personal struggles and that I get to create ‘space’ for them to learn how to align their head with their heart and make a clear choice from a place of alignment instead of from confusion and stress.

What sets me apart from others is that I have a natural ability to bring calm to a turbulent situation and provide the guidance, resources and support to help women empower themselves in an extremely challenging situation, find their way back to their true self and not settle for anything less than what they truly desire. I recently released a free video training series that leads subscribers through each step of The HEALTHY Path Process I talked about earlier, and I feel honored to work with women who are ready to go deeper through my one-on-one coaching services. I’m an advocate for each client’s individual goals and I lead them to their OWN decision about what feels right for them.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really believe in “luck”, but I do believe that we create what most people think of as “luck” by having a healthy relationship with ourselves.

I feel blessed (aka lucky) when I am treating myself well and believing in my abilities – and these are the times when the right people show up to help me with whatever I need help with. When I’m not feeling aligned with myself, I feel more discouraged (aka unlucky), and create my own unintentional wall of resistance to receiving the support available to me.

In other words, I create my own “luck” by having a healthy and loving relationship with myself!
