Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector Tellez and Alberto Luna Lara.
Hector and Alberto, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always showed an interest towards photography but it wasn’t until I finish my bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences that I truly decided to put more work into it. My dad gave me my first camera, a 35mm Nikon FG-20. I took a photography class back in college, everything was dark room stuff, nothing digital. I enjoyed the craft you put into truly developing an image. I decided to take some photography classes and with time I started developing a bigger interest in the whole photography world. I am a traveler so I am passionate about who the worlds function in different parts of the world. I believe that the streets have their own voice, I try to tell a story with the things I shoot. And also show how those little details are always important.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride, I spent 4 years in Dallas by myself, away from my family and friends. But that allowed me to grow as a photographer and as a person. Experience the American culture in different parts of the country.
Please tell us about Hector Tellez Photography.
I am a freelancer photographer. I am mostly interested in street photography and photojournalism. I look to speak through my photographs, share a story or allow your eyes to create one.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Going on a family vacation. I was excited about my dad taking several pictures and recording big part of the trip. Now we have those pictures and videos and we watch them from time to time, a good way to document the past and remembering how far we’ve become.
