Meet Holly Ireland of Holly Ireland Photography in Carlsbad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Ireland.

Holly was a Broadway dancer for 15 years. She performed in 6 Broadway shows and always had a passion for photography during her dance career. She met Bruce 11 years ago in Tokyo, Japan while performing with Billy Joel’s show. Finally meeting the right one, she moved to Carlsbad to get married and start a family. This is where she turned her passion for photography into her second career. It worked out perfectly, because Bruce also loved photography and wanted to start the business with her. Today they shoot 30-40 weddings a year and hundreds of family, high school senior photos and dance shoots. They love what they do!

Has it been a smooth road?
I have to say it has been smooth but a lot of hard work! We knew the first couple of years we had to work hard and not make a lot of money. So we knew that put our head down and worked hard. After 2-3 years we were off. Word spread quickly and we are now able to support our family and California lifestyle with our passion as a career.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Holly Ireland Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in Wedding, family, high school seniors, and dance photography. We take pride in what we do and do all the photo shoots ourselves. It is a high end boutique business taking great pride in our customer experience. I think what sets us apart is that we are a husband and wife team. We know how each other work so well and can move around and get all the shots at a wedding documented. We are most proud of winning San Diego’s A list for #1 top wedding photographer.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I do think there will always be a big importance for photography. Even though everyone has an iPhone and thinks they are a photographer there is always a need for a professional. Someone that can take the most important photos of your lives from weddings to having a baby. You don’t want to miss moments that an iPhone can’t capture.

Pricing:

  • Weddings $2500-$5000

Holly is a wonderful photographer and really knows how to photograph your “good side”. She and Bruce are also very nice people to work with. I highly recommend them as photographers.
