Meet HUNTRESS Florals | Floral Design Studio & Lifestyle Brand

We are thrilled to be connecting with HUNTRESS Florals again. HUNTRESS is a Floral Design Studio & Lifestyle Brand and is also a content partner. Content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work that we do, sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this. Check out our conversation with Jennifer from HUNTRESS below.

It’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
Hello! I’m Jennifer, Owner and Chief Creative of Huntress Florals. I’m proud to have a varied background, including art, psychology, yoga, and over 20+ years of experience in the event and hospitality industry!

HUNTRESS is a Southern CA-based floral design studio. We specialize in creating gorgeous, enlightened and badass blooms for your wedding, event, or installation. We service local and destination events, and have a library of digital offerings and classes coming very soon!

I’m also a Philly native, world traveler, with a love for thrifting, minimalism and spirituality. Always learning, expanding, inspiring and encouraging others to awaken their unique HUNTRESS within. Forever seeking and noticing the #beautyintheeveryday.

Please stay in touch and reach out with any floral or business questions, or just to say hi. I’m thrilled to meet you and welcome you to our circle!

What has changed in your business since COVID-19?
While all of our weddings and events were postponed or canceled, we took advantage of the downtime to develop more digital offerings. This has been on our list for years, but it was always challenging to find time to bring them to life.

We now send weekly emails full of pretty florals, inspiring thoughts, Huntress updates and exclusive offers. We’ve been showing up on Instagram stories/lives more consistently, creating YouTube content, and updating our blog (check out the ‘forages’ tab on our website). We’re also creating floral education manuals and videos, expanding our online library of content to help DIY flower enthusiasts and budding florists learn our floral design style, basic mechanics and business principles. It has been therapeutic to implement new habits and broaden our circle to share more of the heart of Huntress and our design and business knowledge with others.

Overall, we were happy with our business, but COVID-19 has enabled us to dig deeper and find even more meaning through florals and the connection they facilitate.

How do you combine all of your passions?
Honestly, this has been an ongoing process of undoing stories and limiting beliefs over the years. I used to separate work from hobbies, but now those areas of my life overlap and it’s glorious!

My biggest loves have always been art (of all kinds), creativity, design, music, nature, connection, photography, spirituality, psychology, and travel. So many interests! For a long time, I didn’t believe I could make a living doing what I loved, and especially something in a creative field. Gratefully, I found my way back to my true authentic self and through working with flowers, have merged all of these loves.

It takes constant practice and reassessment to maintain as we grow and change, both personally and as a brand. There have been countless hours of reflection more recently as I continue to evolve Huntress beyond florals. That’s the beauty of life though, we can continue to reach for more!

Where do you draw inspiration from?
Everywhere and anywhere! I’m inspired by other creators, various forms of art (from painting, music, to dance and movement), meaningful conversations, feeling energy from others, quiet moments and being mindful during walks or everyday tasks. Leaving my phone at home sometimes and really observing and listening to the world around me. Getting lost in nature and continuing to travel and explore new places – a change of scenery is a huge one for me. Just breaking out of the everyday routine is sometimes all it takes. Inspiration is abundant when you have an awareness and are open to it!

What are some daily habits that keep you aligned in business?
I typically prepare for the next day by looking over my calendar and prioritizing tasks. My morning routine has become a ritual that I guard fiercely. On most days, I wake early without an alarm and the first thing I do is meditate. I used to scroll on my phone and that hindered my success for the day. Batching work tasks and carving out some time just for me is also key to managing my energy. Establishing boundaries is something I’ve been working on lately too. It can be a hard one, but necessary to create some balance. Also checking in with my heart regularly to be sure that I’m staying aligned with what I want my life to feel like and making sure that my decisions support that. Drinking ALL the water, and of course, daily dog walk breaks keep me sane personally and professionally!

It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
