Meet James Neal of Comprehensive Spinal Care in Kearny Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Neal.

James, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been in practice for 11 years. Through that time, I have worked with other offices throughout San Diego. My main focus has always been on educating patients on not just how to get out of pain, but how to keep it from coming back. I have a background in athletics, so it only seemed natural to gravitate towards treating injuries but also injury prevention. I’ve worked on patients from 2 days old all the way to 101 years old! Being a chiropractor has given me so much joy in my professional life. Being able to use my hands to physically help someone feel better is truly a rewarding feeling.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting off, I worked for a clinic that eventually went out of business and they had to let me go. From there I attempted my own clinic renting space with little success.

I then worked for one of the highest grossing clinics in San Diego for 6 years. Toward the end of my time with that clinic, I had a very bad bicycle accident that ended up fracturing my wrist and face and kept me out of work for 6 months. During that time, I really focused on making my dream of having my own clinic a priority. I began focusing my time improving on my technique, learning the business ownership side of being in practice and utilized those lessons to open my own clinic.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
San Diego is the only place I could picture myself, which is why after school I moved down to start my career. The weather, beaches, and almost endless amount of sunshine make it perfect. It promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, which falls in line with chiropractic.

I don’t have much to say negative about San Diego. People complain about the traffic/cost/etc. but if you live where most of the country would come for vacation, it comes with the territory.
