Meet Janna from Thousandlashes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janna Soykharev.

Hi Janna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started doing lash extensions as a hobby, while studying to be a kindergarten teacher. I quickly became obsessed, and realized this is what I wanted to do.

I’m just an average girl from an average town, my parents are Russian immigrants, that always wanted me to be a doctor, a lawyer or at least a nurse..

They were obviously really thrilled, when I decided to pursue my passion and go to beauty school, my mom kept telling me how many unemployed beauty professionals are roaming the streets without a steady pay check. Thank you mom, for the love and support. (My parents are happy with my choices now, in fact they work in our company.

I wish I could tell you there is something really special about me. I wish I could tell you my journey I’ve struggled with self-doubt and low self-esteem. Yet through it all, I’m most appreciative of these difficult life experiences because through struggle, I’ve gained perspective. and valuable experiences, I realized what an amazing industry the lash industry is. My team and I started empowering other lash artists, to reach their potential, because the beauty industry can be really cut throat, and we wanted to stand out, and try to do the opposite, because when I was starting out my journey as a lash artist, I didn’t have that support and had to figure things out on my own.

My family has been very supportive throughout this journey, my sister started helping with0 products Development and my dad started helping me with marketing and accounting. Despite the fact that we continue to grow the most important thing that we stand for is supporting and empowering lash artists through lash education and providing quality products that are proven to work because we tested them. I am constantly improving the products and services we provide. Our products are tested in Carlsbad California by Myself and my team.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth sailing throughout this lash artist journey. The biggest challenge I have had to deal with as a lash entrepreneur is accepting that it takes Time for Results to Show Up

Big ‘overnight’ success is really the culmination of steady, consistent small efforts over time. Unfortunately, the vast majority of lash artists fold and quit right before the big payoff hits.

If only they would have held on for another day, week or month, everything would have come together. Often far bigger than they imagined.

I have had so many failed attempts, way more than I have had successes, but the most important thing is to continue growing and learning.

It would have been so easy to just say, forget it. Let’s call it quits and go back to working for a pay check. I have been there myself, and struggled to persist, now I’m trying my best to encourage other lash artists that are just starting out to not give up. It’s worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I developed online courses for lash artists that are very in depth, in order to facilitate lash artist learning with an ease.

We also developed amazing lash artist products

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Memory is a tricky and unreliable thing, but those earliest recollections from my childhood make me remember that I loved watching my mom and dad, being new immigrants from Russia working really hard in order to provide a good living for me and my sister.
