Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarrett Pugh.
Jarrett, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Life started on August 10, 1975… I grew up in the hills of East County in a beautiful country setting full of loving families, great friends, rolling hills, horses, dirt bikes and tons of fun mixed with a couple borderline bad decisions. The city was Jamul and the fun was had outside in the dirt not starring at a computer. We had a blast exploring caves, untamed trails and vacant hillsides welcoming the mudslinging dirt bikes we rode everywhere we went. From BMX bikes to Baseball games life in Jamul was fun and looking back something I starve to find in San Diego now that I have children of my own. Our lives were hit hard and rocked to the core when my little brother Dallas Pugh took his life on May 20, 1995… Similar to a bomb going off in a small village our family was devastated and crumbled to its knees… The story continues as we continue to pick ourselves up off the floor and try to re-build something we worked so hard to create.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Loosing my brother Dallas Pugh to suicide was the biggest challenge of my life and something that I continue to work through. We have founded the Dallas Pugh Foundation in his memory and have donated over $1,500,000 in his memory including the beautiful Gymnasium at the McGrath Family YMCA in Ranch San Diego. The Dallas Pugh Foundation teamed up with the McGrath family and Sycuan as the major contributors to build this amazing facility.
