Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Three years ago, I bought the shop from Ron Pilcher who owned the shop for 40 yrs. He was appointment only and only did men. Upon taking over, I remodeled the place and opened up it to men and women. At first, it was just me working, then business started picking up and before I knew I had 7 people working at the shop part time. I am proud to say the ratio of men women and children is pretty even.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been pretty smooth, we try to participate in local events to stay in touch with public. For 3 years, we have entered the local chili contest and hold 3 titles. We also participated in the local Christmas parade.
Sunset Clipps – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We have a very relaxing decor. We offer complimentary beer and wine and popcorn. We have TVs for game sports and cartoons. Our prices are very affordable and the quality of service is 5 stars. We accommodate men, women, and children.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is walking around my neighborhood and seeing all the haircuts that came from my shop. Also, some many people that move to ocean beach, end up in my shop because of yelp and social media.
