Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Cornejo.
Jazmin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I can remember, I never took the traditional path to life and always wanted to push the boundaries a little bit. Whether that being my curfew growing up – sorry mom – or dropping out of public high school to go to an art school. Limits were meant to be broken in my book! My parents taught me the entrepreneurial spirit at an early age which was a blessing and a curse. I quickly learned what a flexible schedule was like, taking long weekends to camp, and that I’m not made to take orders from a boss. My mom always told me to follow my passion and I could do anything I set my mind too. Unfortunately, my dad passed away a few years ago from early-onset Alzheimers. I learned so much from him being sick most importantly, then he taught me to celebrate every day like it’s your last and pushed me to see the world he wasn’t able to.
Fast forward to today, I am 31 years old and have been working on creating a life of my dreams since 15 years old. I have worked in hospitality and events for over a decade and love it! I have traveled to 16 counties and counting, lived abroad in Australia for over three years while pursuing a dream to create a life where I combine my passion for travel, events, and people.
I am in the process of launching a company called FeMAVEN, a platform for women to book curated modern girls getaways to celebrate life. A perfect combination of food + culture + friends + experiences + a shit ton of fun! My first location will be San Diego since it’s where I live and what to show women the local’s side of this beautiful city!
My goal with FeMAVEN is to show women they can safely & confidently travel the world! Life is too short and we are never guaranteed tomorrow.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not! I have lived paycheck to paycheck, I have been homeless, in debt, and laid off from my full-time job due to COVID.
I have been stranded in foreign countries with no phone or stuck on the toilet from food poisoning in the middle of Mexico. I have fallen in and out of love with foreigners and cried myself to sleep from missing my friends when living abroad.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Since I am just starting out, I know I will definitely still have a lot to learn but feel like I have already learned so much!
I had a huge fear of launching during a pandemic but have several entrepreneur friends who have encouraged me to just do it!
I would definitely recommend that before investing in branding, websites, domains, etc… that you do a trademark search. I had to change my original name because it was already taken.
It doesn’t have to be perfect to launch……the product and company will grow and evolve over time.
