Meet Jennifer of Empower Public Relations in San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At one point in my career, someone called me “too ambitious”. I took that and unapologetically ran with it!

After spending nearly 20 years in the News industry as a Producer and Executive Producer, I moved on to Public Relations. While I love the adrenaline and controlled chaos that comes from breaking news, I was more passionate about telling stories and championing the hard workers, do-gooders and everyday heroes. My experience and connections allowed me to combine my love for the media with helping others share their stories and pursue their passion.

I recently started my own PR company- Empower Public Relations! It has always been a goal of mine to be my own boss. I want to make myself proud, my family proud and most of all show my kids they can make their dreams come true with hard work, persistence and a strong support system.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If it were a smooth road, everyone would be doing it! It’s the times when nothing is going right, you’re overwhelmed and you feel like quitting… that you grow. Struggle makes me think outside of the box and work even harder.

Branching off and starting your own business is scary and challenging, but I’m blessed with a strong support system: my supportive husband, patient kids and friends and family who are constantly cheering me on! I’m learning as I go!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Empower Public Relations – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My mission is to create smart content and messaging that connects the media with my client’s brands to boost exposure and credibility. I empower my clients with the tools to tell their stories, share their passion and showcase their brand.

I am most known for getting my clients TV coverage. My background as an Executive News Producer has tremendously helped me connect with producers, anchors and reporters because I know what they’re looking for and can provide them with what they need in a timely manner. Plus, I’ve made a lot of friends in those 20+ years!

I am most proud of the connections I’ve made and continue to make. My strong relationships with local and national television media have landed brands on The Today Show, The View, Good Morning America, CNN, MSNBC, The Doctors, Rachael Ray and more. My clients have also been successfully featured in premier print publications such as InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, Shape, Women’s Running and Travel + Leisure. Some of my online features include placements in Goop, Buzzfeed, Forbes, Refinery29, PopSugar, Los Angeles Times and many more.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to continuing to grow my business and inspire others along the way!
