Meet Jennifer Getto of Simply Glamorous Floral & Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Getto.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started when I was in Jr. High. Every day I would walk by a very very tiny flower shop on my way home. I went into the shop, around Valentine’s Day to ask if they needed any help for the holiday. I was 14 yrs old! They said yes, and placed me on a street corner with a bucket of roses to sell! The women who worked in the shop saw something in me. I began working after school. I followed this woman from shop to shop thru out the years. I admired and learned from so many floral designers. As the years went on I stayed with it.

I worked for many floral shops and a few caterers. I decided I needed to open my own style floral business. So in 2008, I established Simply Glamorous Floral. The business sat quite while I was busy working for a catering company. Just a handful of years ago I quit my job and took the leap faith! I am an avid Junker/ antique-er”. So I decided to mix my hobby and talent and create Simply Glamorous Floral & Events. A floral design “Studio” offering floral of all occasions, vintage rentals, coordination and much more!

All of my clients are “word of mouth”. I love mixing textures, colors, a little modern and vintage to create a magical event. With all that, I have met and became friends with so many wonderful Vendors and Clients. In the last year, Simply Glamorous Floral has grown and I have taken on a handful of fabulous gals to help with designing, coordination, and setup! I am super excited to see what this year brings us!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road?? Oh NO! Everyday I have felt like I was falling off a cliff! Having your own business is not easy. But it is very rewarding! Doing the floral and design part, you are hitting a very emotional spot with some of these clients. And hoping Mother Nature provides the right shade of “PINK”! Haha! Every wedding I cannot breathe until I personally hand the Bride or Groom their Bouquet. Once I do that all is smooth and great!

The end of the event, when the couple comes up to us to thank us for making their wedding or event a success- sometimes tears are involved! Is why I continue to do this.

The wedding industry is very stressful. It takes a very well grounded and little crazy of person to be in it! Stress comes out in very strange places and times. But a little Lavender oil, lots of smudge sticks and chocolate makes it all good!!!!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the simply glamorous floral & events story. Tell us more about the business.
Simply Glamorous is a “home-based floral/design studio”. We offer floral for all occasions- wedding, funerals, bday, baby- showers, corporate events, etc. We offer small vintage rentals, props, dessert station decor, style shoots, engagement shoot- decor, workshops, holiday decor, and coordination. We are different because a little piece of me goes into each event. I also push my brides, Grooms and Clients till they are uncomfortable- because a safe event is not a FABULOUS event!

I am most proud of that fact all my clients are “word of mouth”. Which means each one is a special event- they already know they are going to be taken care of well beyond a regular florist! I believe the styling and amount of Love and Effort that goes into each event makes SG Floral stand apart from others!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I have been in the Floral industry for about 25 years. Just this last year I have seen some shifts in technology. Which I think is well needed and excited about it! The trends are always changing and love the ones that are going on right now. I am excited to see the old art form gain some modern twists!

  • Coordination- Basic package’s start at $1800 and go up.
  • Floral/ Decor- packages start at $2500.00 and go up
