Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Bonsol.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeremy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a doctor of chiropractic with Chiropractique serving the North Park and Mission Hills communities. I am also an artist, specializing in mixed-media Asian-inspired works of art. These two passions have been playing tug-of-war with me my entire life. I created the J. Bonsol Art & Wellness brand as a way to package my services to the world as a healer and artist.
I’ve been a chiropractor since 2008 and began serving the people of my hometown in Bartlett, IL. I moved to Chicago where I started my own healing studio in the River North neighborhood of the city. It wasn’t until 2014 that I began practicing at Chiropractique here in San Diego. My career as a chiropractor has taken me from one city to the next and has introduced me to people from all walks of life. It fills me with joy to know hands have helped countless people over the years.
As an artist, I didn’t pick up a paintbrush until 2006. My first painting I ever made was sold in a week for $20. This exchange sparked something great inside of me knowing that I can use my creativity to make extra money. My collection of paintings grew quickly and I was invited to exhibit at art show and events all over Chicago.
Eventually, I started making larger works, which sold for $1,000’s. I consider myself very lucky to have so many people enjoy my art. Being an artist has opened opportunities for me that I would have never thought of prior to picking up my first paintbrush.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think life isn’t meant to be smooth (all the time). Without struggle, we don’t change, and change is what propels us forward through life. The biggest struggle for me was being able to combine my passions for both the arts and healing. I always felt like I was stuck at a fork in the road.
One time I quit chiropractic altogether and made artwork for half a year. I realized that I couldn’t survive financially on the route I was on and needed to rethink my life. It wasn’t until I had an “ah-ha” moment in 2012 that the combination of art and chiropractic can both be done through the same intention; an intention of healing.
It seems simple to think about, but it took a long road of trials and errors to get to that point. Intention is everything.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the J. Bonsol Art & Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an artist and chiropractor with the intention to heal others through my work. I believe that all living things have an innate intelligent life-force energy within them. It’s the energy that animates our entire planet, and the essence of our souls. When we are sick, stressed, or even sad; this energy begins to “dim” within us manifesting as pain and dis-ease. Once our life-force is restored, we are brought back to health.
This concept is the basis for the chiropractic spinal adjustment. When we become physically imbalanced especially along the spinal column, our innate intelligence becomes blocked. The chiropractic adjustment, re-aligns these imbalances to remove interference and restore health. This ability to restore health through a spinal adjustment disrupted the healthcare industry and revolutionized natural health around the world. My chiropractic technique and style of healing are based on this foundational intention to remove interference so the body can heal itself.
I believe that beautiful things have the power to put us in a state of awe. It’s this state that brings our conscience closer to our innate intelligence; the essence of our souls, and thus allowing us to capture the life-giving force within us. The artwork that I create has an intention to fill people with awe and wonder, hopefully creating a ripple effect of healing to others.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to make a living doing what I love in a paradise of a city.
