Meet Jessica Chranowski of Pure Life Therapy in Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Chranowski.

Jessica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 1999, I was working at a law firm and I decided to enroll in a massage course at the Natural Healing Institute in Encinitas. My intention was to find a job that would help me pay for law school. One course turned into several and I started my business in August of that year. The following summer, I was approached by a company that referred therapists to massage the stars and their crew before they perform at major concert venues. I started to network with all of the production managers in San Diego and LA and I was setting up a chair or table backstage at most of the concerts. I quit my job at the law firm and decided my calling was to be an entrepreneur.

As well as working on my Holistic Health Practitioner degree and Associates degree, I started to work on the production side of the concert world when massage wasn’t needed. I started working in the gaming industry as well. I would travel to poker tournaments in Europe, the Bahamas and Vegas to massage the poker players while they competed for hours. I have seen private clients in my office in Pacific Beach since 2004, I also travel to homes, offices and events. I was CFO of an auto restoration business, we had a retail parts store & restored classic cars from 2004-2011.

Over the years, I have been blessed to travel and meet amazing people. I massage the performers of Cirque Du Soleil whenever they are in town. I have worked with the Miami Dolphins when they used to play against the San Diego Chargers. I toured with Pink as Production Assistant & IT services. I toured with One Direction as Logistics Coordinator. This summer is my 19 year anniversary of being a massage therapist and I have loved every minute of my career! There is definitely never a dull moment.

Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business in the holistic health industry is not an easy task. I have to rely on a recipe of optimism, tenacity, confidence and a lot of luck. If a client gets sick or if I get sick, I do not work. When the economy crashed, I lost 2/3 of my clientele. This is why I have always branched out into other ways to bring in an income. I am constantly networking, asking for referrals and trying to fill up my calendar. It is quite challenging and I love it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pure Life Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Holistic Health Practitioner and I specialize in massage therapy. My healing touch blends deep tissue, Lomi Lomi Hawaiian and sports massage with an emphasis on Reiki Energy Balancing. My clientele are the stars and their crew at major concert venues & festivals, the NFL, Cirque Du Soleil and professionals who appreciate a skilled therapist to keep them performing at a competitive level.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
As a native San Diegan who has traveled around the world, I love everything about our city. Whenever I find myself arriving home to Lindbergh Field, I feel so much joy and contentment. I love how close we are to all sorts of nature such as the beaches, bay, mountains and desert. I love how so many parts of the city has amazing views.

I’m not a fan of traffic but since I make my own schedule, I rarely find myself in it.
