Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jaccarino.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career as a pet photographer in NYC capturing the posh moments of the privileged upper west side pups and dabbling in some commercial work, while always giving back to the less privileged pups looking for forever homes in the adoption centers.
I shot my first wedding in 2011 as a second shooter for a photog friend. I was in awe that day of wedding photography and everything it stood for; the fast pace, the adrenaline, the details, the creativity, the real emotion and finally the story that was told. From that moment on I knew my time with the NYC pups was over unless they were walking their humans down the aisle.
After shooting weddings for 6 years on the East Coast, my family and I decided we wanted to join the rest of our clan on the West Coast in sunny San Diego. Both my sister and sister-in-law had brought boys into this world the same year Jake was born and we were dying to have them finally together.
Moving across the country was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make as a business owner who relies on a wedding network, a friend network, Google searching, press and word of mouth for work. After spending the first year going back and forth from both sides of the country, I have decided it’s time to turn down the work on the East Coast and immerse myself fully into the Southern California wedding market. I’m so excited for 2018 and the lovely couples who have booked me to document their special day! I look forward to more collaborative work with the ridiculously talented SoCal wedding pros and to finding peace in the sense that I have changed markets but I’m still the same girl behind the lens, staying true to who I am as a photographer and a business owner.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

It was hard to leave the success I had built on the East Coast and truly start from the bottom again on the West Coast.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jessica Jaccarino Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer.
LOVE FOR MY COUPLES
A wedding day is one of those very few days in one’s life when you are surrounded by all those who adore you. The day should be captured beautifully, with an attention to detail and with a focus on the many expressions and raw emotions around you. My excitement comes from wanting to create images of my couples that reflect who they are and how you love one another.
In the end, my goal is for my couples to look at their photography and know exactly how their wedding unfolded while remembering all the hard work and detail that was put into this special day.
MY STYLE
My style is a mix of fine art and photojournalism, I will provide you with images full of real moments that are true to whom you are as a couple. I shoot what I see, and pride myself on getting to know you and having a good understanding of who you are at the core, which allows me to capture your unique personalities.
THE EXPERIENCE
I consider it an honor to document life and I’m inspired by my unique connection with each of you. I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer who strives to make timeless, emotional documentary photos.
I provide my couples with the best experience I can by going above and beyond when it comes to the big day!
I’m your “go to” person
I get your questions answered, I recommend vendors, I’m your timeline guru
I bustle your dress, pin the boutonnière and hold your flowers
I’m your partner and your friend
I shoot a limited number of weddings each year to ensure that my couples receive the best possible experience working with me before, during, and after their wedding day. My goal is to deliver not only timeless wedding photography, but to also make the entire experience as memorable and seamless as possible.
MY DESIRE TO TELL THE STORY
Every couple I meet has a story, where they fell in love, how they proposed, what life together means, and what is special to them. I set a goal with each of my couples to break through the barriers and really capture them, their love, their quirks and who they are as a couple. I want my photography to tell a story, document a day, showcase emotion and in the end be a keepsake of memories of the happiest day of their lives.
I pride myself is being a true believer in capturing the unanticipated and unplanned moments throughout your day. I give my bride and groom direction in order to get the beautiful photography I know they will love; I pay close attention to the details and photograph them in the most beautiful and creative way possible. I think outside the box and try and create a unique experience for each of my couples on one of the most important and memorable days of their lives.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been lucky enough to collide with people that have opened up doors for me here in San Diego whether it be a talented wedding planner working at a spin studio or a mutual friend.
