Meet Jessica Zemple of Life Shucker in Point Loma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Zemple.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
By all context, I had “made it”. I was a young executive flying around the world working for a company making a positive impact. And, I was completely miserable.

I found my way to a master’s program in Spiritual Psychology with Drs. Ron and Mary Hulnick where I spent two years digging into who I was and what my purpose was in this magnificent world. I looked at my old belief systems, judgments, and fears that were holding me back from living my greatest life. The results were so liberating that I decided I wanted to give that same freedom to others through life coaching. Now I LOVE what I do and my passion is to help others live the same way.

Has it been a smooth road?
I so love that you are asking about struggles, or as I like to say grit. Grit is core to my philosophy when coaching people and organizations. I see everyone as a pearl that has been created through the grit of life. The grit creates our beauty. Rather than hiding or avoiding the challenges of life, I encourage people to own their grit to help them learn and grow.

I experienced a ton of grit along the way building Life Shucker and continue to today. Some of the bigger challenges were my limiting beliefs around money and confidence when starting my life coaching business.

I grew up thinking money meant freedom. Ironically, the more money I made in corporate America, the more it actually chained me to my job. I had to work through that limiting belief that money meant freedom, to experience true freedom and make choices aligned with my heart. This allowed me the courage to leave my job and the results have been better than I could have ever dreamed of.

As for the confidence, I just had to take inspired action to build my confidence. I coached, coached, and coached some more until I started to see the results with my clients. So often people wait until they have the confidence to start something. What they don’t always realize is they often need to do the very thing they are afraid of to build the confidence.

Now one of the challenges I face is time. There are so many people and organizations I want to coach, events I want to host, programs I want to create, and books I want to write that I need more hours in a day.

Please tell us about Life Shucker.
I created Life Shucker with the idea that you are a pearl. It is the essence, the heart, of who you are. The radiance of your pearl was created by layers of strength through the grit of life’s experiences.

Each pearl has a shell. When life brings challenges, you often close the shell around your pearl to protect yourself. The problem is the shell creates a barrier between you and the world making you feel disconnected to yourself and others. The shell also hides the beauty of who you are and holds you back from sharing your gifts with the world in the fullest expression. Eventually, the once protective shells start to hold you back from reaching your greatest potential. It is then time to shuck the shell open, with love, to let your pearl shine!

Simply said, to shuck is to love. I love the play on the word shuck because it makes me laugh every day when I think about all the ways to use “shuck”. The best part is when you replace the word with love it really has a deeper meaning. For example, get shucked means get loved. Outside of my own entertainment, I really feel like it makes my work more accessible to people. Transformational work can be scary or intimidating for people. I feel like shucking makes people laugh and then get curious to do the work making it more inviting to people. Don’t you want to be shucked?

Thus, I like to think of myself as a shucker. I shuck people and organizations to help them open up and shine their pearls through transformative coaching, keynote speaking, writing, workshops, and retreats. Last year I launched a love-based leadership program for executives called Shuck Your Heart Out which I also offer for everyone online.

In November, I am launching my first book, Shuck This Way. It teaches forty-four different life coaching techniques that everyone can use to change their life in positive ways. E-mail me at jessica@lifeshucker.com to get on the list to download your free copy.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see a global shift in consciousness that will make coaching more and more relevant. I believe coaching is where yoga was 15 years ago and will be an integral part of our society. At least this is my hope. With everything going on in our world today, just think how different it would be if people focused on living from a place of love rather than fear. Let’s shuck everyone!
