Meet Jillian and Tato Silva of Cali 4 Fitness in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian and Tato Silva.

Coach Tato is a personal trainer and former professional soccer player from Brazil. He moved to San Diego 4 years ago with no English to learn the language. His plan was to return to Brazil after 6 months to open his own gym, but then he met his wife Jillian; a former teacher. Together they started doing outdoor Boot Camp classes for their friends at the bay. Interest grew and soon they transitioned to donation-based classes and a little over a year ago became the company Cali 4 Fitness where they enjoy helping people lead healthy, active lives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any start-up company there have been some bumps along the way. Navigating the park permits initially was a learning experience. We had to research where and when we could be at certain parks to run our classes. In the beginning, we had a few times where the sprinklers would go on just as we were about to start class and it was a mad dash to move everything out of the way so we didn’t get wet! Nothing like a little extra motivation first thing in the morning to get moving 🙂

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cali 4 Fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Cali 4 Fitness is an outdoor fitness company that specializes in outdoor Boot Camp classes and Personal Training. Our dynamic classes incorporate a wide variety of exercises for a great full-body workout. We like to keep it fun and interesting so everyone has a great time and burns a ton of calories!

Cali 4 Fitness is San Diego’s only outdoor boot camp company owned by a Brazilian trainer. He brings all of the latest and greatest training techniques direct from Brazil to all our classes including the Brazilian Booty Camp designed to shape, lift and firm your booty, strengthen your core and tone your legs.

We started small and have grown organically with client referrals and word-of-mouth being our main source of growth. We’re proud that we’ve set ourselves apart from the competition, by creating a strong sense of community within our fitness family. Our company focuses on creating a positive and encouraging workout environment where everyone feels comfortable to workout at their own pace while still being challenged.

Our fitness family enjoys additional benefits not seen at other boot camps such as complimentary Fitness Evaluations for members to set goals and track progress; a WhatsApp group to share photos and videos of our classes with our members, and provide support and motivation; complimentary fun and fitness-minded social events such as weekend hiking excursions and paddle boarding, post-workout ladder ball games, bonfires, and BBQ’s to name a few. It is our belief that when you get to know the people in your group class, you are more likely to work out on a consistent basis because the members of your class hold you accountable, and you have more fun!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re so excited with the growth we’ve seen this first year and the positive feedback we receive from our clients. We’re excited to expand our services in the future to include more classes on the schedule and to expand to different locations throughout San Diego.

We plan to grow our YouTube channel to include more exercise tips and workout programs for our followers as well as our online coaching programs.

Our goal is to constantly and consistently be improving our services to provide as much value for our members as we possibly can.
