Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Brown.
Jon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a DJ for over 20 years. My dad always had records and turntables around and as long as I did my chores he’d buy me records and I would spin in the garage and create mixes. I soon would take the show to parties. I continued into the CDs revolution then transition into weddings which has been my primary business for the last 15 years. I like weddings which I truly believe the “real DJ’s” play because they have to be flexible and have to play for all genres of people. And you have to have a wide variety of music and keep your music knowledge up to date. Now I can do all events my reputation has grown. I have corporate clients such as Lululemon, Equinox, 24hr fitness, SDGE and Assoc. of Realtors and More. I have recently started working for a publicist company who represents many actors from Hollywood. I’ve done movie premier parties and red carpet events. As of recently I was at comic con and was voted the top 25 show in the Rolling Stone.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s a gradual process. You first have to put yourself out there. Build your reputation. Sometimes sacrifice time to show how good you are. Just like a performer. Additionally technology in the DJ business grows and you have to keep up. So you have to invest always in the best equipment. Also advertising is key. Building your social media and rep is key and takes a lot of money time and planning. It just doesn’t happen overnight.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DJ Jon Beezy – what should we know?
I am a disc jockey my specialty is top 40 music and that’s what I’m known for. I also am known to be very professional and classy. My most thing that I am proud of is I am able to build relationships with people 90%of my business is return customers and word of mouth meaning others really appreciate what I do. What sets me a part is I am personable and reliable. I treat everyone like their event or party is mine, weddings should be a one shot deal for everyone. This maybe one time friends and family get together so I have to make it as if it’s the last party they will attend. So it’s up to me to build those memories and moments for people
