Meet Justin Isaac of The Lawyer in Blue Jeans Group in Old Town

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Isaac.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Justin. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I grew up with a Father who is a lawyer (and a pretty well-known one in San Diego), so while law was never my focus necessarily, it was always in the back of my mind. I received my Bachelor’s degree in History and Psychology, but after college, I felt like I wanted to do more. With my Father as a great mentor and example to utilize, I felt like law was really my destiny. I have had the privilege of following in my Father’s footsteps and also getting to work with him for the past few years. Although Lawyer in Blue Jeans Group is a family business, nothing has ever been handed to me; I have had to work really hard to get to the point that I am now, which is the owner of the firm.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming a lawyer in California is definitely not a smooth journey. The Bar exam is extremely difficult, frustrating, and can make you second guess your journey! However, because it is the most difficult Bar exam in the country, passing the exam is very rewarding. As far as taking over the Lawyer in Blue Jeans Group from my Father, the main challenge that I have experienced has been paving my own way. Since my dad was on TV and Radio in San Diego for 20+ years, I have had to find a way to market myself as an individual, but also in conjunction with his name and notoriety. I have taken over his radio show and done some TV segments of my own, which will help push the firm to new heights!

The Lawyer in Blue Jeans Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a law firm that specializes in Estate Planning. We are not like traditional law firms in that we don’t charge hourly fees and we have a “Blue Jeans” approach to law. We like to speak with clients in a relatable and down-to-earth manner. All too often people feel uncomfortable around attorneys and in law offices because of the high hourly fees and the way attorneys speak. While we do not dress in blue jeans, our firm’s goal is to make sure our clients feel comfortable.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is best defined as using persistence and integrity to accomplish a goal. While success can in one way or another fall into your lap, accomplishing a goal through hard work, dedication, and with integrity feels the best.
