Meet Kaiser Cunningham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaiser Cunningham.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ambitious creative born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming and now residing in San Diego, CA. I am a United States Marine by day and visual creator by night. Growing up, I’ve always been interested in shooting concerts, artists, and really anything I had the opportunity to. As a matter of fact, I think the first concert I ever shot was for Mac Miller at the University Of Wyoming. Anyways, after I graduated high school in 2015, I pursued a photography degree at Northwest College in Powell, WY.

After a series of different life adventures, I turned to the United States Marine Corps where I have traveled to several states while continuing my first passion of Photography. I’ve been known in the local communities from Florida to California for my photography and videography for when it comes to country music. A few months ago, I was ambitiously cold calling and reaching out to different venues, and a friend of mine who is a tour manager asked me to cover a concert at Moonshine Beach (a local country venue in Pacific Beach). One thing leads to another and it has been a consistent flow of work covering nightlife to creative artist performance images and videos. Furthermore, after continuously working with the venues, I was able to travel to Nashville with the notorious Country Rebel team and capture 32 artists in four days for live acoustic sessions.

I’m apart of an online community called “Black With No Cream” and I really give the credit to Ben Hagarty and Dave Malave for a lot of the tips, tricks, and overall useful practices when it comes to being a creative. Without them, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today being able to shoot country music at the level I’m able to now. Ive always been passionate about country music specifically, but being able to utilize my camera and listening to the music has hands down given me a very enjoyable experience and has allowed me to meet some incredible people along the way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, the road has been bumpy with a lot of twists and dramatic turns! Where I come from, a ton of people never leaves. So, being able to get out and adjust to a different, more progressive, environment was a struggle. Also, trying to find venues and different artist to allow me to capture them initially was terribly difficult. Eventually, enough of the right people saw what I could do and it was uphill from there.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Photographer and Videographer. I do a ton of editing and visual storytelling. I specialize in concert photography and videography. I love to do quick recaps and create dramatic, colorful and powerful images.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I started over, I would probably have to tell myself to never stop creating. Just get outside and do something. There were times where there wasn’t any motivation to shoot. Luckily, somehow always getting back to my roots and listening to music as inspiration gets me back on my horse!
