Meet Kay-Dee Lane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay-Dee Lane.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Growing up in Southern California has shaped me so much as a person and also as an artist. I am so grateful to have grown up in a community so rich with culture and art. The funny thing is I’ve always loved art in every form but while I felt a creative spirit inside me I never quite knew how to express it. I tried painting, music, drawing but nothing ever quite stuck. I took a few photography classes in college but it wasn’t until after the birth of my daughter that I started to take it seriously. I wanted to be able to capture all of her moments beautifully and create a gallery she could look back on and feel all the emotions I felt while creating it. She is my biggest inspiration!

Please tell us about your art.
I am a photographer + blogger. I love to capture beautiful moments of my daughter and our family life but I am always keen to remind readers that everything is not always as easy as it may seem. I simply want to create beautiful images and inspire others to find their creative outlet. I want to bring a little bit of happiness into someone’s day when they may be feeling down. My mission is simple, but it so important to me.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I definitely do think artists roles have changed in recent years. Art is an amazing tool that can be used to help people see issues in a different way that they may have not seen before. For me personally, my main objective is simple—to bring light + happiness into people’s lives. I feel that the world, especially online, has gotten a bit more harsh in recent years and I’d hate for anyone to feel less than. I keep an open door policy and encourage those that feel they need someone to talk to or just to listen to come to me. I know I may just be one person but I do my best to make sure no one feels alone.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
For a daily fix of my work, my Instagram is definitely the way to go! Come find me + show some love!

I’m always up for creating new things and exploring. So if you’re in need of a photographer to help you create some magic, I’m your girl! Shoot me and email or fill out the booking form on my blog if you’re interested!
