Meet Kelly Siegler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Siegler.

Hi Kelly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have 20 years of healthcare background. When I got pregnant with my 2nd son, I decided it was time to slow down. I started Bakin’ it Up as a Cottage Food Operation in 2017 when he was born. In 2020, during the pandemic, I shared a storefront space on Main for six months which enabled me to meet many of my customers face to face and establish a larger clientele. We closed in Dec after the second shutdown and I was faced with the tough decision to go back to baking from home. This year I was presented with the opportunity to open the storefront on Main and it has been the best decision. I love having a place for people to come and congregate and enjoy our baked goods.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always struggles when starting a business but I try not to focus on those. Fallbrook has been amazing to me and has embraced my rustic treats from the beginning.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are known for being a rustic bakery. We like to put out food we enjoy eating ourselves and serving to our friends and family. Carrot cake is what put me personally on the map here in Fallbrook. I started having that at Dominick’s Deli back in 2017. Now I think the bakery is known best for putting out the freshest, from scratch pastries and sourdough bread in town. When you walk into our bakery, we want you to feel like you are family and we cherish the relationships we have built here. The team that helps behind the scenes is an integral part of what we do here and the vibe we want to give off.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Baking in the kitchen at Christmas with my Grandparents and parents and sharing those treats with all our neighbors.
