Meet Kent Krizik of SRS (Surface Restoration Solutions) in North County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kent Krizik.

Kent, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In September 2013 the partners came together to launch a business that addressed a very specific niche that we determined was under-served. The restoration and maintenance of metal surfaces.

From scratched stainless steel refrigerators and sinks to architectural elements, elevators, and sculptures – we brought together unique backgrounds that allowed us to set up the sales, marketing and service aspects of the business and quickly established a reputation as experts in a rarefied segment.

Our key-word advertising online has kept the phone ringing ever since. The consumer adoption of stainless steel appliances coupled with our expertise in the application of custom metal patinas has kept us very busy.

We provide services to customers from Los Angeles to the border and count more than 800 customers since our founding. Word-of-mouth has been an important part of our growth, especially in commercial circles.

We’ve trained and added staff over the last 4 years- and we’re proud that all of our techs have come to us through our relationship with the Wounded Warrior program – we now have 5 people on our team.

Every project is different and we foster an environment of constant learning and stand behind everything we do. Our focus has always been on customer service and leaving every client with a positive experience.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Managing growth has been the biggest challenge. Finding and training our techs. We’re blessed that our connections with the Wounded Warrior program have led to skilled, motivated team members that we’ve trained and are now key contributors. Because we serve such a specific niche, we rarely have to confront competition or suffer a lack of opportunities.

Our jobs range from 2 hours for a consumer solution to multiple weeks for a commercial project. The photos on our website tell the story and define the breadth of our services – and the opportunities they reveal.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SRS is the convenient name, Surface Restoration Solutions is the full name – what should we know?
While we started SRS convinced that restoring consumer stainless steel would be a great business all by itself, the demand for commercial services has proven to be even more significant and rewarding in every sense.

Stainless Steel and brass elevators take a lot of abuse and replacing doors and interiors are extremely expensive, SRS has an extremely competitive solution, and the marketplace is increasingly aware of this option. A number of elevator company now refers work to us, and we save building managers and owners a lot of money – and deliver as-new result.

We have also expanded our expertise in the application of custom metal patinas, working with architects and owners on new construction and revitalization projects – a truly specialized niche. We’re pleased to have participated in numerous projects throughout Southern California and are presently involved in some very high-profile projects in La Jolla and downtown LA.

This is the artistic and technical end of our business and there are very few companies with the expertise and experience that we continue to acquire. While restoring a customer’s stainless steel sink to a like-new finish and experiencing their joy at the result is very rewarding, the satisfaction of delivering a custom finish to an architectural gem is priceless.
