Meet Kevin Moses of Pure Motion Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Moses.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up as a skinny kid I always had trouble gaining weight and building muscle. At the age of 18 years old, I was going through some personal problems and I needed a positive outlet. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to start working out, and the rest is history. Looking back, exercise completely changed my life.

Further coursework and professional experience helped me gain tremendous knowledge about building muscle. The benefits of eating properly and giving my body the proper amounts of protein and other essential nutrients had a profound impact on my results.

When I originally entered college I was studying to become a Psychologist since I really enjoyed helping people and was very interested in understanding the human mind. While doing coursework in psychology I realized my true dream of helping others would be better realized in the fitness industry. I decided to change my entire life path from Psychology to Exercise Science and soon realized I had made one of the best decisions of my life.

I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with an emphasis in Exercise and Fitness, graduating on Dean’s list with top honors and also published a paper entitled, The Effects of Time Incremented Running on Mood State of College Athletes”.

Shortly after graduation, I decided to become a personal trainer and life coach in one of the healthiest cities in the USA and relocated to San Diego after Christmas in 1998. Upon relocating to San Diego, I underwent the coursework and testing to become Nationally Certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and received my CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).

Upon relocating to San Diego I quickly starting working in my chosen field at a local fitness center. After a few months, I realized I wanted to help more people faster and decided to approached 24hr Fitness. I was hired on the spot and during the next five years trained over 300 clients and became one of the top trainers in the company.

With more than five years professional experience at 24 Hour Fitness, I realized my true dream was to start my own company – Moses Fitness, which today is called Pure Motion Fitness.

I purchased Pure Motion Fitness back in 2012 and it turned out to be the best decision of my professional career. We now service over 75 clients with group personal training and 1-on-1 personal training. We also specialize in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition(FDN) and we love helping our clients reach their full health potential.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think everyone has struggled in their life, but how you respond to those challenges are what makes all the difference. Like I mentioned before, at the age of 18 years old I went through some pretty serious challenges. I actually had to sit in jail for 60 days. At the time, this was one of the worst things I ever been through, but looking back it completely changed my life. This whole experience made me appreciate the things that really mattered, like family and friends.

Pure Motion Fitness specializes in flexibility, weight loss, and strength training. Pure Motion’s Group Training program is a “Semi-Private/Small Group” Personal Trainer-led workout that provides a total body fitness solution through an innovative 40 minute “cardio-resistance, functionally integrated, dynamic exercise session”. All Group Training sessions combine the disciplines of resistance training, aerobic exercise, and functional movements into a high energy, fun and time-efficient workout.

What were you like growing up?
I came from a loving family and was born in a small town in Wisconsin called Fond du Lac. I was very active, played basketball and baseball with most of my free time. In the summers you would find me hanging out at the city community pool, Taylor Park.

My interests were anything to do with sports. Softball, golf, basketball, and racquetball. Also did some BMX freestyle as a teenager and played pool in my twenties.

  • 20 Sessions (2-3 a week): $69/session = $1380 – You will have transformed your body and health to a new level.
  • 10 Sessions – 30 Minute – $42 per session = $420
