Today we’d like to introduce you to Kinda Arzon.

Kinda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Kinda (pronounced like Linda). I am a Chicago girl living in sunny San Diego with my wonderful husband and 2 beautiful kids. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Computer Science, and over 7 years experience working in IT Consulting, Project Management, Programming, Graphics and Web-Design for companies such as Abbott Laboratories, Hitachi Consulting, and AbtElectronics. When I’m not behind the camera, I am in the kitchen cooking, getting crafty, traveling, spending time with my family & friends, and volunteering with local non-profit groups.

Photography has been a hobby of mine since I was a young girl. It’s rare you’ll find me without a camera in hand. Several years ago, as a stay-at-home mom, I began taking pictures of my 2 kids. I wanted to document their lives by capturing every moment, milestone and special occasion. Taking it to the next level, I set forth on a journey to formally study the art of photography and utilize the full potential and functionality of my camera — Countless books, classes, workshops and practice made this possible. After much encouragement and praise for my work along with a substantial investment in professional grade equipment, my passion and obsession would become my livelihood.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Balancing time between your growing business and your family life is a constant battle every entrepreneur faces. I faced this struggle a few years ago as my business has become very successful and I was in high demand. I was booked almost every weekend for family sessions but felt disconnected from my own family and my health was suffering. Work was taking over my life.

I knew then I had to make changes as my family and health comes first, I restructured my business to specialize only in maternity, newborn, and baby’s first year which can be done during the week in my home studio, and partnered with another photographer who does family photos. I was able to get my weekends back to spend with my precious family, and my work schedule is more manageable since it’s during the day when my kids are at school. Struggles are good sometimes because you learn from them and they help you grow as a person.

KINDA ARZON PHOTOGRAPHY – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The day I decided to pursue my passion feels like many moons ago. I was involved in endless photo sessions but I now specialize mainly in maternity, newborn, and baby’s first year. Over the last 10 years of my professional career, my work has been published nationally in People & Us Weekly magazines, and my pictures have been featured on popular blogs. My client list includes some of Hollywood’s most admired celebrities, reality TV stars, public figures, news anchors and professional athletes. I am known as the mayor and the baby whisperer in my little town on San Elijo Hills.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success by fully living my purpose in life and using the gifts that God gave me to make others happy. Knowing that my work on this earth whether its photography, working with a non-profit or being a mom has made a difference and changed the lives of others. This is success!
