Meet Lexi Lomax of Ooh la la Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Lomax.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had a big dream and knew I was meant to be an entrepreneur. I am a feign for business, and I always loved all things beauty, so it was a natural fit when the opportunity arose that I would open a salon. later I became a licensed cosmetologist, became an industry educator and now have begun coaching other stylists in their businesses.

The salon is a wonderful environment to work in, we have tons of fun with our clients and as a team. It’s our goal to provide excellent services in a clean, comfortable and friendly environment. Everyone feels welcome when they come through our doors, and enjoys their time with us too. We aim to provide value and make sure that our customers are happy. We offer a wide variety of services and have an even more varied group of women who provide them. We range from 19-60+ in our stylists and estheticians, and from kiddos to grannies in their 90’s for clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
Holy cow. It has been a wild ride. The economy crashing in my first two years of business was brutal, but we held it together and am ever grateful to be where we are today. After 11 years there are plenty of struggles, but I try to look at them as learning experiences, and grow from them, and most certainly not repeat them! lol!

One of my major hurdles was for people to take me seriously. I was 20 when I opened the salon, and people could not wrap their head around me being so young. it still happens almost any day, but now the critics are less, and they aren’t full of as much doubt, and more interested in how I did it.

The main thing is that I stuck to my principles and never wavered on why I opened the salon in the first place. I wanted to create a fun, friendly, fashion-forward environment close to home for people who live in the east county.

Growing up in Alpine, I knew what it was like to drive relatively far to find what I was looking for, so I just created it in East County.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ooh la la Salon – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full-service salon which means we do hair, skin, and nail services, as well as permanent makeup. I have the most amazing team of pro’s who perform a variety of services, but basically, if its beauty related, we do it. We have 15 hairstylists, 5 estheticians, and 2 nail artists. We are predominantly a hair salon, but we do offer a variety of services for “all things beauty”. we are your local beauty experts, and pride ourselves on being well rounded in that aspect.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Whats not to love!!?? San Diego has so much to offer, and is so easy to get around! One thing that’s super nice is how accessible the city is. We have clients that come from the north county, and downtown and some who even come from Palm Springs and Irvine!! Personally, I love the ocean and our weather!!
