Meet Lexi Rupert of Little Bird Sleep Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Rupert.

Hi Lexi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
While pregnant with my daughter, I remember hearing frequently to “sleep while you can!”… not that anyone can sleep well into their third trimester. As a former zookeeper, I spent the beginning of my adult career life figuring out the needs of living beings that could not verbally express to me what their needs and wants were. It became ingrained in me to observe behavior and use logic to figure out what an animal needed. This hugely prepared me for motherhood.

Two weeks after my daughter was born, I found myself completely sleep-deprived and struggling. It pushed me to dive into sleep books, forums, Facebook groups and more, to pursue what I could do to help both her and I sleep better. I felt that I wasn’t able to give her the care she deserved if I was chronically sleep-deprived. Through my research, I learned that Pediatric Sleep Consulting was a “thing” and decided to become certified! From there, I started my own business and have helped many families go from seriously sleep-deprived to rested and thriving!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When my daughter was six months old, our family relocated to Guam for two years. That transition was anything but easy! There are few jobs on the beautiful little island of Guam, so it ended up being the perfect time to start a business. Becoming a mom while moving across the globe and starting a business was anything but easy. Moving everything back stateside was even more difficult.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Little Bird Sleep Consulting?
I am a mom of two, a military wife, former zookeeper, an Infant and Child Sleep Consultant and the owner of Little Bird Sleep Consulting. I work with sleep-deprived families with children ages newborn up to age five! I teach independent sleep skills, bring adult time back, and take families from sleep-deprived to rested. I specialize in diminishing night wakings, daytime and nighttime age-appropriate routines, bedtime battles, nap struggles, and sleep transitions such as a crib to bed transitions, co-sleeping to independent sleep and so much more. I believe that you are the expert in your child and that I am the expert in sleep- together, we can achieve better sleep for the entire family.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I work with families anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks to help revamp sleep! I am not limited to using one sleep training method, as I believe that all children and families have different needs and family goals.
