Meet Liberty and Ryan Bernal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liberty and Ryan Bernal.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Liberty and Ryan. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
“Liberty and Ryan” is not just our business name, it is us! Transparent, authentic real us as a couple who strive to be happy… together! Our mission is to make an impact on not only other couples but anyone who is looking to be happy in a relationship. We both have been married before, and have recently related well to the term “Relationship Recovery Coaching.”

We are not certified therapists, but we aggregate the best data for couples to learn from and relate to. Overcoming our past difficulties and failures has brought us to the place we are now. Happy, in love and wishing to help others do the same. We also own a global women’s fitness brand together, called EnVie Fitness which has locations in Australia, USA and in January we will be launching EnVie Fitness Online where women in any country can join our special women’s fitness community. Liberty is also writing a book which is part memoir/part “how to” for women’s fitness.

We both have been both small and large business owners before meeting in 2016. Liberty has specialized in fitness and franchising for the last twenty years and Ryan in all things business start-up. We have a daughter, Gracie who is five – making our family blended since Ryan is her stepdad. Another focus of ours has become coaching families through the process of adjusting to life as blended with strategies and assistance to make it as smooth and less stressful for all.

Has it been a smooth road?
Ha! No! Overcoming divorce, then a quick romance faster than each of us imagined was a struggle but we knew it would be worth it. We had to balance our business ownership lives with becoming a blended family and dealing with all the things that come with big life changes. Just a year and a half into our relationship we chose to take over the ownership of EnVie Fitness, which was the company that we had been working for. This meant giving up our salaries and any sense of stability plus leaping off a cliff essentially with a lot of unknowns and things that needed attention and change, but we felt so passionate about the brand, and the people involved we knew that it would be worth it.

The “Liberty and Ryan” brand is new, and we have met some incredible people, gained a strong following and have already impacted others’ lives, but it did not come with its set of struggles. Finding the time to incorporate the work it takes to build a new company while taking over ownership of another company and running the two together has been tricky. Just working with your spouse can be interesting, but we’ve worked hard at balancing it all with being parents at the same time. It takes hard work, dedication, patience and a lot of communication.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Liberty and Ryan: we specialize in motivating couples or anyone who wants to be in a happy relationship. We pride ourselves on being good examples and assisting others with overcoming setbacks, moving beyond divorce toward new happiness and smoothly transitioning into being a blended family. We also are travel bloggers and travel our pants off whenever we can. That is something we are looking to focus more on in 2019 — consistent travel advice and sharing our little view on the world with others. We are very proud of sharing the real “us” and using our own lives as examples to others to overcome adversity and keep striving for more.

EnVie Fitness: Our goal is to make EnVie Fitness synonymous with Women’s Fitness globally. We have been successful at growing as a small franchise initially, but we are now a license organization who can give ANY fitness professional a chance at being part of our family if they want to change women’s lives through fitness. We no longer require extensive/expensive buildouts – a trainer in her home can become part of EnVie Fitness, or someone with a full-size gym can, as long as their focus is on women. And beginning in 2019 ENVIE FITNESS ONLINE will launch for women everywhere to join an online fitness community for real women to get inspired, motivated and connected as a perfect compliment to their regular workout routine – For the cost of a cup or two of coffee per month it’s crazy NOT to join!

Why women? Because women’s needs are simply different than men’s both physically and emotionally. Ryan runs the business side, and Liberty is the heart and soul behind the fitness side. We are most proud of maintaining our authenticity and our ability to change and adapt according to today’s needs.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Oh, San Diego, we love you! With our extensive travel, we ALWAYS return home so appreciative of where we live. The weather, although extra hot this year, is obviously a huge draw for anyone to San Diego. We also love how there are so many different areas.

Lately, we have been taking the coaster from our hometown of Carlsbad to downtown to easily and inexpensively explore more of the city. The beauty of the mostly blue skies, palm trees, and the calming ocean keep us smiling every day. We are avid runners and could not ask for a more beautiful place to spend our miles.

Least – traffic. We are super lucky to work from our home office, though so we can’t complain that much about the traffic we don’t often experience. It would be nice if we didn’t have as many tourists in the summer, but we can’t blame anyone for wishing to visit one of the best cities on earth!
