Meet Lisa Druxman of Fit4Mom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Druxman.

Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After the birth of my son in 2001, I felt a deep personal desire to connect with other new moms. Truth be told, I was also looking for a way to not go back to work! I created Stroller Strides that year with the goal of offering all moms an opportunity to get in shape, meet other moms, and have fun while bonding with their babies. Today, we’ve helped more than half a million moms nationwide find their own personal “Strength In Motherhood” and we’ve been able to create additional programs under the FIT4MOM brand name: Fit4Baby, Stroller Barre and Body Back.

We started in San Diego but within a couple of years started franchising across the country. We have two missions so to speak. The first is about helping women find their village and strength in motherhood. But the other is in helping women find rewarding, stimulating careers that blend with their family instead of vs their family. We have created thousands of these opportunities through our instructors and franchisees.

As my kids have grown up, the business has grown up. I started as the mompreneur who wore all of that hats. As we grew, I added amazing team members to help support and grow the business. I am now blessed with an incredible executive team and CEO who are in alignment with the values and vision of the business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Ha. More like a roller coaster. We love what we do. We are as excited about it today as when I started 16 years ago.

But the road has never been easy. We created a new type of fitness class so that was hard in the beginning to create the awareness and demand for something that people were unaware of. They needed to see that this wasn’t just a walk in the park with their stroller. We also created a business model that was unheard of. We wanted to create a low cost, turn key business for women who had a passion for fitness and motherhood. We had to break the mold so to speak about this franchise model.

And of course, motherhood is our greatest blessing and our greatest challenge. We wouldn’t exist without it. It’s challenging to say the least to create a growing profitable business with part time working moms. We have become experts on how to thrive in work with life instead of work vs life.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company started as stroller strides, which is a stroller based total body workout for new moms. As we grew, we added more programs. We added fit4baby which is our prenatal program. We added body back which is our transformational high intensity interval workout that also includes coaching and a nutrition program. So we were more than just stroller strides. We were all things fit 4 motherhood. So we changed our brand to FIT4MOM.

We are known to the fitness for every stage of motherhood. I hope we will be known as the voice of wellness for every stage of motherhood.

What sets us apart is our culture, our class formats and our community.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are proud to have nearly 2,000 class locations nationwide but are also quite saddened that that’s all we have.

This is not another case of a company who feels like “it’s never enough”. It’s just that we truly believe on the life impact that our programs have on moms. Moms walk away with new strength, confidence, a new sense of self. We want every mom to be able to experience this. Every mom deserves it.

As we grow, we are able to expand our technology and be able to reach more moms. We will always remain true to our in person classes. But we will also be able to reach moms who don’t have access to our classes or who need support with different aspects of mom wellness.
