Meet Lisa Fijalek of Bunny SD Computer Solutions in City Hieghts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Fijalek.

Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked in my school’s computer lab back in 1990 and we used to update the computers both hardware and software quite a bit there. After leaving the University of Maine Campuses I have built all my own machine and fixed friends up from time to time. One time after moving to City Heights I help a neighbor with a broken screen he did not know where to go or have any idea where to get help. So I called a local electronics’ retail store and ask if they did repairs. They did and proceeded to tell that repair would take up to six weeks and the cost would be $200.00 or so for a screen for his laptop and $30.00 an hour for about 6 hours. I hung up in complete did belief. They were so taking advantage of what the cost should have been. I went online to Amazon and found a screen for his machine for about $45.00 and it took no more than 15 minutes to put it in. I was thinking after that episode that maybe I could do this for a fair price and take business away from the expensive stores and help people who had all they could do to pay for their computers let alone overpay for repairs all at once. and maybe me and my husband could live at least a little better. It is beginning to start to get going just lately. I love doing this not so much for the money though it helps but, for the feeling, you get when a customer comes to pick up their machine and it’s running just like new again and they are happy to have found me…

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you start a small business you are batter by all kind of companies that say they are here to help. Lend you money, do your payment processing, sell you goods to sell. You really have to be careful. Some things I learned the hard way. Like I was paying my bank $60.00+ a month to process my card payments when there are many like PayPal that charge only per transaction. Just one example.

Please tell us about Bunny SD Computer Solutions.
What we do is simply this, if it is done to or on a computer we are the people to see. We specialize in laptops mostly but have worked on many desktop computers as well. I like to think that were are known for our low price and great work. As well as honest and friendly customer service. Sometimes I am up most of the night just find out what is wrong or to finish a job in time for someone who really needs it. New age technology and old school customer service.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would of taken more time to shop around for things like payment systems and maybe brush up on some basic business law.
