Meet Lisa Langstone of Glisten Skin in Hillcrest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Langstone.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had a medical emergency, my appendix burst and it was so severe I was told there was a good chance I would not make it. My recovery took almost a year and it was then I decided to change careers and take charge of my future.

I have always been interested in skin care and decided to become a holistic esthetician. After graduating I still felt I did not have enough knowledge to practice my new trade so I befriend a seasoned holistic esthetician who mentored me for three years. It was during this time that I acquired extensive knowledge about the skin as an organ of detoxification and how the skin functions.

My specialty is assessing the underlying cause of skin issues instead of just treating skin symptoms. I have been doing skin rejuvenation since 2008 and have credential certification in oncology esthetics and as a holistic skin specialist.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have definitely experienced my share of struggles along the way. Since my focus is taking a holistic approach to skin care and assessing the underlying cause of skin issues I have had some interesting challenges.

One of my clients suffered from lye dust entering his face when he was serving in Iraq and an old make shift building exploded in close proximity to him. It took me several months to correct his inflamed, red irritated skin. I have also helped many clients experiencing cancer who suffer from red, irritated dry skin due to chemotherapy treatments strengthen, repair and restore their skin’s function and barrier.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is located in an alternative healing wellness center in Hillcrest.

My specialty is understanding the complexity of the skin as an organ of detoxification so I can assess the underlying cause of skin issues, instead of just treating skin symptoms.

I am known for restoring irritated, red skin due to hormone imbalances, gut issues, medications or over-stripped exfoliated skin back to hydrated, beautiful, healthy skin.

My approach is very different: Most estheticians treat skin types — dry, oily, combination skin — without taking into consideration the complexities of the integumentary system which can inhibit the skins ability to function properly. I don’t offer generic facials that coincide with monthly themes or holidays since the “one size fits all” thought process does not fall into my scope of practice.

All of my facials and treatments are individually customized that are safe for individuals experiencing cancer and going through cancer therapies. I use only natural, non- toxic products to improve skin health as well as integrating reiki during massage for a deep relaxing experience. My treatments and recommended home care regime work to repair, strengthen and restore a person’s skin.

As a company I am proud of my holistic approach to skin care and making an impact to support and enrich the lives of others with their skin.
