Meet Lori Brock of Golf Lessons With Lori in Mission Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Brock.

Lori, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began playing golf at 7 years of age. By 10, I was competing and winning tournaments. I loved the challenge that the game presents. I was awarded a full scholarship to college and achieved All American status as a Senior. After college, I immediately qualified to play at on the Ladies Professional Golf Tour. (LPGA)

During my first three years on tour, I suffered a wrist injury and a car accident that eventually cut my playing career short. Along the way I had been fortunate to work with several internationally renowned coaches/instructors in the game: David Leadbetter, Mike Adams, Rick Smith, Bill Morretti and Ben Hogan. They helped me build a great foundation for my knowledge and philosophy of teaching the game of golf. I started teaching the game to highly skilled college players as a NCAA Division 1 golf Coach. Coaching collegiate players gave me a venue to instruct players on how to strengthen their short game, their course strategy and trouble shot skills in order to lower their scores and be nationally competitive. I led the University of Tennessee to a 6th place finish at the NCAA National Tournament in 1997.

In 2000, I decided to go into business for myself and teach golf full time. I teach men, women and juniors of all skill levels. I find teaching all skill levels extremely rewarding.

I love helping golfers attain their goals and gain greater satisfaction out of improved performance. To be a great instructor, you don’t just have great knowledge of the game, you need the creativity to invent unique illustrations to communicate that knowledge to your students so THEY “get it.”

I have worked as a full-time instructor in Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas and now in San Diego, CA.

Has it been a smooth road?
The struggles were mostly in playing, competing and developing my skills but that was where I gained a great foundation that pays off every day that I teach.

Because I am a people person and love to encourage and nurture, teaching is a perfect vocation.
