Meet Magdalena Mantovani of Full Circle Vida in Point Loma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magdalena Mantovani.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been resourceful and have thrifted for as long as I can remember. Early on, I would treasure hunt my Grandmother’s pre-WWII enormous attic in Poland. The amazing finds up there! Then moved on to thrift stores and flea markets as soon as I could drive myself. I loved finding unique clothing and accessories I could use as a 16-year-old growing up in the 90s.

I find thrifting to be the best way to style my spaces. It allows me to have creative freedom while being earth-friendly and budget minded. What a beautiful formula! Vintage goods is the way to go! Unique, well made, eclectic pieces you won’t find at your nearest big box store. Second hand is always my first go to for all my home and fashion needs. I hope to continue to grow my business and spread the message of reusability and repurposing with style!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s always a learning curve. I am learning as I go. I am a one-woman business.

I source, repair, prepare, price, curate, inventory, haul, photograph, model, research, market, sell, and account for my business! And that’s just the obvious stuff.

I’m a hands-on, involved mom and the balancing act is real! Doing this business allows me a great amount of flexibility but if I don’t put in the time or effort, there is no business. The challenge is when is the work done for the day? This is my current obstacle. I love what I do and when you’re in the zone, time flies by.

Time management and balance between work, home, family and life, in general, is my juggling act.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Full Circle Vida – what should we know?
Full Circle Vida is an environmentally minded and curated vintage retail space located inside San Diego’s largest Antique Mall! I source and curate vintage furniture, home goods, and clothing. I only choose items I personally love (anything woven) and would use in my own space (not easy letting go of these awesome finds). My style is nature inspired, organic, often curated in a neutral color palette with subtle pattern and texture. The spaces I style have been described as warm, happy, and inviting. Functional, cozy and chic are my blend.

The vintage clothing I source is everyday comfy, casual, and bohemian inspired for a unique, personal look. How fun to wear a vintage hand made sweater you know is one of a kind!

I am so proud to be contributing to environmental sustainability and conservation as I grow Full Circle Vida. By re-using, re-purposing goods that have already been created, I am reducing my carbon footprint and being kinder to our planet. Full Circle Vida customers do the same with each purchase by funding various nature conservation organizations such as Oceana.org and Plant a Billion Trees Organization.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
At the heart of all of this is my love for nature. The goods are out there, already created. My love is to show you how to use amazing vintage goods in your everyday life and create a space or look unique to you.
