Meet Marci Kawar of Floating Yogis in Carlsbad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Kawar.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My partner Sarah and I met several years ago co-teaching a kids yoga camp. Sarah was a paddler and I had been teaching yoga for many years. After a handful of times playing on the board, we decided to taker others out and share our love for this new found passion. Since 2013 we’ve taken out thousands of people of all levels and have done dozens of teacher trainings as well.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The last few years have been great! The first year and a half was tough, trying to get people to come out with us, and then lugging all the boards back and forth to the trailer. But word of mouth caught on, and soon we were able to host regularly scheduled classes and create a community of regular Floating Yogis. And then things got even better.

Just over 3 years, ago we were fortunate to take over our current studio space, which boasts a private beach and loads of parking on the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad. This has been amazing!

Please tell us about Floating Yogis.
Floating Yogis has been in business since 2012. We specialize in teaching SUP Yoga classes for all levels. We offer morning, sunset and full moon paddles. We also do Teacher Trainings, team building events, camps, retreats and so much more!
