Meet Maria Cordeiro of Goesto in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to maria Cordeiro.

Maria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My career started as a scientist, actually. I was a researcher for a few years because I’ve always known that I wanted to work with projects and things that would help change the world somehow. At that time, I thought science was the way. Years passed and I realized that It was time to change my path and pursue something that would allow me to be more creative. I started being heavily interested in branding, design, and marketing and then I realized that I also LOVED being “free”. I started studying and got a few certificates here and there and started working as a consultant and then freelancer and then at some point, I knew it was time to expand and hire someone to work with me, at that point, I rebranded my business from “MLC Studio” which essentially a “1 person’ company, to “Goesto Studio” which is my company today.

In 2018 I also co-founded My Green Network (MyGN), the first cannabis shared manufacturing spaces in the world, there, I’m responsible for overseeing marketing strategies, design as well as leveraging key industry partnerships, social initiatives. My Studio is heavily involved with MyGN and that is something that makes me extremely happy because I can essentially work on multiple things at the same time. I’m passionate about helping others and I think because of that, some people call me a “social entrepreneur” Inside of MyGN and with my partners, I’ve created an initiative called Green Quest, a grant program that awards minority-owned cannabis business investment of over $40k, with the goal of helping break the barriers of socioeconomic status, cultural barriers and lack of mentorship. Right now I have a lot of plans and goals for the future and I’m excited for the next chapter of my entrepreneur path.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy. I believe one of my biggest challenges was having to shift from a researcher-mind to a business-oriented mind. In addition, being an entrepreneur can be lonely sometimes – you can often feel like no one understands what you are going through but that’s simply not true and recognizing the people around you that will support and listen to you is key.

Please tell us about Goesto.
We are a branding and digital marketing Studio and we essentially create and transform brands. We offer branding, graphic design, digital marketing, web design, and development and creative consulting services. Our specialty is branding as we love to create new concepts and explore our creative process. I believe our biggest differential is that we actually have strong values. if a company doesn’t align with what we believe, we will respectfully deny working on the project. We actually care about our clients and projects and that means we are committed to making things work or providing the results that they expect.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
No! It has been a crazy journey (especially in 2020) but I’ve learned and grown a lot and that is amazing!
