In her free time, Maryanne is involved with Professional Women Group, San Diego, which helps underprivileged women to gain financial independence and self-sufficiency in their own journey. Here she inspires other women with the message that you don’t need money to have class and share etiquette tips on style, dressing for job interviews, and more…
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I came to the US 13 years ago, I was ready to live The American dream.
Unfortunately 8 months after my arrival I was living in a homeless shelter for victims of domestic violence with my two children – toddler and an infant at the time. It was a very difficult situation to begin with – living in a foreign country, with two very young children without family and friends, with limited English, broken and broke, Etiquette saved our lives and helped me thrive – getting a job, retaining a job, purchasing a house, starting my own business has being a process. But extremely rewarding one.
Today I have two number one international bestselling books and I do travel the world spreading the message of etiquette.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Manor of Manners specializing in INTERNATIONAL business, social and youth etiquette. We introduce civility from the time King Louis XIV started the etiquette trend through the Modern day business etiquette which is a form of business intelligence.
We do incorporate both approaches with one vision to make Civility prevail in business and in social situations. Etiquette is a timeless practice. Back in the day was about Excluding people from a particular circle, Today is about Including people. I am proud of our mission.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in a communist country and I was obsessed with reading, playing piano and being just a happy kid. But living in a communist country had tremendous challenges as well, which I decided to overcome and today I live in The Greatest country in the world … facing different challenges. So let’s embrace the challenges and grow from them.
