Meet Masud Sarwary of Foundation Escrow

Today we’d like to introduce you to an inspiring CEO, devoted family man, and philanthropist.

Masud Sarwary was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. At just five years old, he and his family immigrated to the United States. After many moves in search for a permanent home, they finally settled in San Diego. He and his four siblings all attended local schools and with great dedication and perseverance he graduated from UCSD.

After graduating college, he was offered a management training program in the mortgage industry. Here is where he got extensive wholesale and networking experience. After a few years he began his entrepreneurial endeavors. He started and grew multiple businesses. Ranging from a mortgage company, to a direct mail company, and even a hookah lounge in downtown San Diego.

Masud is now CEO of Foundation Escrow, ranked as one of the fastest growing private companies in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal. Foundation Escrow was also honored on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America 2016 and 2018. Foundation Escrow’s mission is to make buying and selling simple. With their proactive communication, technological efficiency, and world class customer service they are able to accomplish this mission.

Masud is not only an exceptional CEO he is also a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Angelica have three children Alexander, Chloe and their angel Ollie.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of my first struggles was losing my father when I was 18. With 4 younger siblings, still needing guidance, my mindset was success is the only option. When my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer was another huge surprise. We worked together as a family and thank God she beat cancer and is 12 years’ cancer free.

On the business end, dealing with the breakup of a partnership during the recession was definitely a struggle. But it taught me how to persevere.

The most difficult struggle was recently this year losing our son Ollie. He was only 11 days old. It was the hardest time of my life. I continue to struggle but I made a promise to give back to families and babies that were in the same position as we were in the NICU at Rady Children’s Hospital, in his honor. And I’ll do that for the rest of my life.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Foundation Escrow – what should we know?
Foundation Escrow makes buying and selling simple. We are known for providing amazing customer service and helping our realtors grow their business with our knowledgeable business development managers and escrow officers. I’m so proud of our company culture, philanthropic spirits, and work ethic. I would say our family-like culture is what sets us apart from others. We are incorporating technology and innovation to make buying and selling simple.

Any Shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story-who has played a meaningful role?
To start out with, I would say my mother and father. They really taught me the right values, morals, and what sacrifice really means. They sacrificed their entire life for my siblings and I to have a better one and I could never thank them enough for that. I learned from them to never give up when time gets tough and life is too short to not live it to the fullest.

On the business side, I would thank my entire team for their dedication to our company and our wonderful clients, whom we love to serve. Also, PEERS NETWORK, which is a generous nonprofit group that I’m a part of. They helped me achieve my personal goal of giving back to the San Diego community, which is so important to me.
