Meet Matthew Dykes of Hangin’ with Matty D Podcast in Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Dykes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Matthew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been fortunate to live a pretty adventurous life and know there are many more adventures to come.

Growing up in New Jersey, right outside of New York City, I’ve always been comfortable talking with anyone, anywhere. After graduating high school, I joined the U.S. Navy and became a Corpsman, allowing me the opportunity to travel and serve in Afghanistan as well as multiple other countries. After seven years, I got out of the military and decided to stay in sunny San Diego.

Soon after, I was introduced to podcasts and thought “I could do this!” My buddy and I decided to start a podcast, interviewing athletes and fitness professionals but after a while, I wanted to interview a more diverse crowd. That’s how Hangin’ with Matty D was born. To date, I’ve released more than 35 episodes, with a new one coming out each week and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say more of a bumpy road. After I decided I wanted to host my own podcast, I had to figure out how to do it – basically all by myself. I had no experience in the audio or tech world so I had to do a lot of research and watch a lot of YouTube videos on how to develop the best product. Now, after much trial and error, I would say I have a pretty good grip on it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hangin’ with Matty D Podcast – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I host and produce my podcast, Hangin’ with Matty D, where I interview interesting people in an authentic and genuine way, allowing them to share their experiences, point of views and life lessons. I’m most proud of being able to connect with my guests on a deeper level and really learn about what makes them who they are.

What really sets my podcast apart is giving my listeners the opportunity to hear from all different kinds of people, learn from their struggles and successes, which in my opinion, is part of the human experience and what really connects us all. If I can inspire people or make them feel a little bit less alone while making them laugh, I’ve achieved my goal.
