Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra De Queiroz.
Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Italian heritage inspired my passion for making gelato with the fundamentals of Italian tradition! I decided to go to Italy and learning more about it. I went to Gelato University in Bologna where I learned how to make the real gelato and that push me to start Cor di Gelato since it would be the perfect way to share all my passion for this product. Creating my own business was the missing part of my life after pause my work life to raise my children.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think there is no way to have a smooth road to start a business, there are so many things to learn and understand about it that makes the way not easy at all. We started Cor di Gelato in the middle of the pandemic and that was a huge obstacle but despite all difficulties, my store has been able to flourish. I’m always saying that I’m not a businesswoman but a woman who was able to create a business through hard work and perseverance.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a gelato shop that makes the traditional gelato, which means our gelato is made every day by scratch in our lab by myself and my helpers. We care about everything we put in our recipes. We privileged the real source as fresh fruits and local suppliers and that is something that can set us apart from others.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
The desire to discover new things and have new challenges always motivated me. Because of that, I lived in three different countries and learned four languages. These experiences contributed to make me as I am today and the way I see life.
