Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Fenyoe.
Megan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been an LCSW since 2008. I worked for 12 years at the State of Michigan Department of Human Services as well for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2012, I accepted a medical commission as a Captain in the Air Force where I provided intense mental health and substance abuse treatment to active duty members, veterans and their families.
Since separating form service, I opened a health food franchise and I recently moved to San Diego from Northern California and began a second business called Mission Strength which focuses on Health and Mindset Coaching. I went through a very difficult divorce and throughout this journey I became stronger and realized that I have so much to offer people who may feeling stuck in their lives. I began to take charge and began to “own my life” which catapulted me into entrepreneurship.
Being a mental health therapist, coach, business owner and fitness fanatic has taught me a great deal personally and professionally about the positive effects of embracing good health and positive mindset. My methods are not limited to a particular approach, but are based from over 15 years of experience, observation and seeing results.
My passion is helping people live a life full of passion, strength and meaning!
Has it been a smooth road?
Life is always full of challenges and obstacles. I have encountered many all the way personally and professionally. I have had to enter many “caves I fear” especially when it comes to vulnerability. I have had to learn to “get over myself” and to really allow my passion for helping others over take my personal insecurities of what people might think of me.
Financially, I have had to take a leap of faith and hire a business coach who has helped me launch my business and to trust that they money will come. This has been extremely difficult but I am so passionate about my business that I am willing to make whatever sacrifice is needed.
Time management has also been a struggle especially when it comes to keeping up on social media (personal and professional accounts) and following up with potentials. I have learned some great skills that have allowed me to stay on top of the 2 businesses I own.
I have also had to learn boundaries when it comes to how much I work. Self-care is the most important tool when it comes to owning your own business. If you are not taking care of yourself then it is impossible to help others. I know ensure that I get to the gym every morning and take time off on the weekends for fun!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), motivational speaker, Life Coach, Veteran and owner of Mission Strength. Through coaching, leadership, consulting and speaking engagements, I have helped hundreds of people accurately assess their challenges and identify ways they can change, capitalizing on the strengths they already have while building new ones.
Being a mental health therapist for the past 15 years, health and mindset coach, business owner and fitness fanatic has taught me a great deal personally and professionally about the positive effects of embracing good health and positive mindset.
I help people reveal and clear hidden sabotaging patterns and blocks, help them figure out why they might be stuck, what is missing in their life and why they are not happy. I take them through a deep dive which allows them to see what they really want and what is possible! I offer a deep dive discovery session with people which helps them create better strategies, identify and strengthen healthy habits and they walk out with the confidence to OWN THIER LIFE!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
One of the reasons I moved to San Diego 6 months ago was because of the networking. I have made more professional connections in just 6 months than I have in any other city I have lived in. I would definitely encourage someone to start out in San Diego due to the number of events and opportunities available to meet people and create a rewarding business!
