Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Fino.
Melissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Sure well, I’m Melissa the female powerhouse behind Love Your Life Community. I’m originally from the state of Connecticut but my roots are based in Portugal. My parents immigrated to the states together in their early teens. I only tell you this because my culture has played a HUGE part in the person I was as an adolescent and the person I have become today.
As a teenager, I wrestled with self-doubt and always felt that I never fit into self-imposed standards. Ultimately, my insecurities fueled a rebellious adolescence. There are parts of my life that I’m not proud of but each of them has taught me a lesson. Eventually, I dropped out of high school but it wasn’t the end for me. In my early thirties, I made the decision to venture into the social work field so that I could work with young women who were like me.
Eventually, I found myself working at the same high school with young women who were just like I was. I was scared and in shock but my previous teachers weren’t. They all said they knew that I would be successful but that it would never be within those four walls. Fast forward a few years later and I got accepted to the University of Southern California to receive my Master of Social Work. Imagine that… I had gone from high school drop out to the University of Southern California.
During my time at USC, I was exposed to life coaching and I knew right away that it was for me! That’s where Love Your Life Community began. My business is growing and so am I. It’s humbling to see. From a little dream, I was unsure of to huge dreams that I would have never felt worthy of before!
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh, it’s never smooth. But if it was it wouldn’t be fun! My whole business is built on the belief that women are capable of building lives they dream of but if you had asked me this ten years ago I never would have believed you. Self-doubt is the biggest obstacle.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Love Your Life Community story. Tell us more about the business.
As a trained life coach I work side by side with women to assist them in uncovering their deepest dreams and desires. I empower women to dig deeper and think bigger. To think bolder. During the coaching process, I utilize my own personal life experience and extensive training to challenge women to break through the current walls that they are facing.
I guide women who are facing divorce, career confusion, body image disorders, loss, relationship endings, debt, health challenges and most of all women who believe that they are not WORTHY of the life they desire. I wholeheartedly believe that we are all strong, capable women worthy of our deepest desires. If you want to work with a straightforward, uncensored woman who’s powered by positivity and giggles then I’m the right fit for you!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Here in San Diego life coaching is a common career but when it’s compared with others parts of the country or the world it’s not as common. Personally, I would love to see life coaching become recognized as a primary subject field in universities and colleges across the country. I would enthusiastically take that job as I believe that life coaching ultimately changes the direction of one’s life.
