Meet Meriah Ozols of Mama Love Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meriah Ozols.

Meriah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My wellness journey began with my first job, at a local gym when I was 17. In college, I studied Health Science and Exercise because I was fascinated with how the body works and thought I might become a Personal Trainer. Even during my wild 20’s, exercise had always been a priority for me. I loved yoga and self-help books which eventually lead me to live a more holistic lifestyle in my 30s. Prior to my first pregnancy, I decided to dive in, work with a Naturopathic Doctor, and learn to care for myself in a very holistic way- beyond exercise. I was sick of conventional forms of health care, prescription drugs as the “solution”, and was grateful to have found a better way.

After the birth of my first child and being inspired by my midwife, I felt a calling to become a Birth Doula. It was hard work but there is nothing like being the support person and advocate for a mother when she is giving birth. “Women supporting women” became an impotent concept for me. I named my business “Mama Love” since I felt so much love in my heart as I was doing this type of work. I am Mama Love with all my heart and soul.

In the last few years, I have decided to expand my business in order to support and empower women on a larger scale. These days, I teach women and families how to better their health with alternative forms of medicine like essential oils. I offer classes locally and online which has been an amazing way to reach more people in need. I am passionate about natural wellness, empowering others to take charge of their health, and helping them discover a better way just like I have.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being on call for births was a bit of a challenge. Not knowing how long I would be gone and trying to make childcare arrangements for my own little ones was not easy. The biggest challenge was when I went through a devastating divorce and wondered how I was going to pull this off with 2 small children.

This is when I realized I needed a new plan to expand my business while being able to care for my babies. Some refer to this as being a “mompreneur”. The bright side is showing my kids how we persevere and continue to work toward our dreams and goals, despite the obstacles we face.

Mama Love Wellness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is about educating and empowering others. I help people see that there are so many natural health solutions available to them. I encourage them to listen to their bodies and find what works for them. Many Americans don’t even know about this other way of life or that such solutions exist.

They feel powerless and just go to the doctor for medications or a quick fix. I am here to bring them to the light, in a very compassionate way. There is so much we can do to improve our health, on our own, before running off to the doctor. Truly, we should all be doing everything we can to improve our health and prevent health problems in the first place.

During wellness consultations, we come up with a plan to integrate some lifestyle changes, whole food supplements, and alternative forms of medicine like essential oils. I have aligned myself with products that are of the highest quality and from a company with the highest integrity.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’ve felt the most proud when I’ve helped a new mom have the best birth experience possible. I also love to see new moms become empowered to use natural solutions at home. I am fulfilled when I hear people tell me I have made a difference in their lives. That’s what it’s really about. I am proud to be of service to others.
